Got the net cover on the polytunnel frame. Decided against a polythene one as got a couple of greenhouses so going to use this more for growing salad stuff in, so allowing the rain through and not being as hot is better for them. Its mainly just to keep the pests off, so a bit overkill, but the frame was free so why not!

The clover is horrific on my lawn this year. I don't mind the bees and such but when you have young kids who want to run around in the garden it's starting to become a real issue. Is there a way of managing in time for next summer or 'it is what it is'?

Cheers,

Cheers,

You're looking for a selective weedkiller that contains fluroxypr that will help control clover.

I don't mind the clover TBH... Have a huge issue with Annual Meadow Grass especially on the front grass though :(

Any recommendations on an Indian Sandstone cleaner? It was put down a few years ago and is now showing some signs of weather and algae and lichen. Stick to just hot water and bleach and spot of liquid detergent or go for a patio cleaner of some sort? The joints have also darkened from the gold it was before.

Have you tried with a jet washer first.before using chemicals / cleaner ?

The only thing my wildlife garden was missing was a pond. Can’t fit anything too big in, at least not the 8x5m or so that I dug for my dad years and years ago, but I figured this will do for now in what is a pretty dead patch of garden:

Managed to find some shade and drought tolerant plants that will hopefully spread and also split/moved some from elsewhere in the garden. Doesn’t look like much yet, but hoping it all grows.

So I severly neglected the garden at the end of last summer, the grass that was there didn't stop growing no matter what and I just stopped mowing it after october as it was always just too wet. It gets minimal sun in winter and we had about 4 weeks straight of a thick frost/snow layering, add in to the fact the grass was already way too long to even stand up straight at that point, once it fully thawed out everything was just dead and matted.

Here is what I was dealing with at the end of spring, the planters had been there a long time and were completed rotted inside, I was holding some of them in place with some big metal bracket things. They needed to go.

Here is the first day of treatment and first seeding, you'll notice back towards the fence where the planters were is not seeded. I had noticed until the lawn care company came round that there was another few sleeps buried under all the dirt so they left me some seed and I dug them out myself, turned over the soil and added a lot of top soil with some sand as it was very clay heavy over there. May not look it in the first photo but they were very happy with the quality and drainage of the rest of the soil that remained so there was no need to add top soil. This was done on the 30th May

Here it is on the 11th June. Being honest I didn't have much hope at this point as it didn't seem to be taking well at all. Very thin, not looking healthy and still so much seed that hadn't germinated after close to 3 weeks.

And finally here it is today. Very happy with how it is coming along. the very bottom of this photo it's a pretty severe slope down from the path, I've seeded a few times but heavy rain keeps washing it back down so its having a tough time to take there but it is improving week by week at least.

I just need to make sure I stay on top of it going forward. Getting a few burn marks from the puppy but we've been pretty good at staying on top of watering where he pees. I've had one filling session where we had missed a few spots so went round with some more seed and top soil to get rid of the dead and fill it in with new seed.

Also please ignore the part painted fences. The other half decided she wanted to paint them, starts then runs away whenever she finds a spider and I refuse to finish them out of principal :p The decking around the summer house will also be repaired once the puppy gets bored of trying to eat it all.
