Post Your Garden!

It’s better to lay down cable and not use it than to not lay it down and finding you should have!

I am looking for 10 GU10 Garden SPike lights. Don’t know what to choose.

They all look the same. Would rather pay little bit extra for higher quality. Should i go for IP65 or is IP65 sufficient. Spike lights will be going in flower beds

First cut of the year today.

Lawn is looking much better than I expected it to about a month ago after the incessant rain we had.

Have quite a lot of levelling and seeding to do this season but it's in good shape overall.

Finally got round to fixing the wire fault in my robot mower's guide wire circuit. It was a previous bodge I did last year that had corroded in the ground.

Now fixed with some proper waterproof gel wire connectors.

Wee bit of an image dump of work that’s finally near done and a wee bit of maintenance!! Pilars in and curbs redone. New fencing and hedges moved back from the road. Hopefully they survive the move!!

Also scarified the back couldn’t believe how much come out!! Just have the grass to kill and redo on the right hand side out the front. Just hoping the seed I used is still decent.

We’ve been tackling the garden in stages (awkward-shaped). We picked up about a 1/4 acre before doing our extension as extra land, so it’s been a case of doing one section at a time rather than trying to smash it all at once for cost purposes.

Because the house is really open plan, the one bit that always stood out—in a bad way—was the side access. We barely used it, it was just kind of… there.

So over the last couple of weeks I finally sorted it (with a lot of help). Called in plenty of favours from family and friends—luckily one of them’s in the trade and handled the digger work, which made a massive difference.

Brought in 22 tons of Type 1, then topped it off with 5 tons of dust to get it level and properly compacted (this is sole destorying, and so much hard work). Finished it off with 160sqm of artificial grass. I know it’s not everyone’s favourite, but with a kid, loads of trees, it just makes life easier.

Wrapped it all up yesterday, so today is the first day we actually get to sit back and enjoy it a bit.

On to section 3 next… really want an outdoor kitchen and bar setup.
