Post your Idle temps

GTS450 under water running 1000 core / 2000 shaders/ stock memory

27*C Idle

36*C load under Folding.

room temp of circa 20*C

Just literally sold my 4870X2.

Temps were idle gpu1 (give or take) : 28 - 32C / gpu 2 : 40 - 42C.

Stalker CS modded : load, approx average for gpu 1 = 45C / gpu = 60C ish. (Obviously high fan speed 50 - 70%).

Temporary card (in sig) : 55 - 60C (passive). Load 70 - 78C, roughly in games.

2 x gtx 470's @800/1600/1684, 1.012v, (still testing theese clocks)

Idle.
Gpu 1: 31c
Gpu 2: 30c

Load.
Gpu1: 81c
Gpu2: 80c

GTX580:

Idle: 39c
Load: 67c

In a fairly warm room and my case filters need cleaning again too so temps are decent considering that.

I dunno, I had a 4870 until a month or so ago (1GB version, though), and it idled at ridiculously high temps due to being stuck in 3D clocks permanently when overclocked. It idled along in the mid-60sC, I recall. That in a HAF932 with a 240mm fan blowing directly onto the PCI-E slot as well...

Set fan to ramp up under load, though, and it never got that much hotter even running Furmark due to the leeway with the fan RPM from its low idle speeds.

Not really properly idle as it underclocks itself when idle, but here they are:

Dude! Something is seriously wrong if thats your Idle temp

He's using a fan speed of 20%, the 4000 series normally run pretty hot.

Mind you, thinking again I'd say it must vary quite a lot with each vendor, so you may have a point. My Powercolor 4870 512 ran at about 38 - 45 ish though that had heat pipes as well as a fan.
