Can someone, OP maybe put up a list of the benchmarking tools we can use for free?

I have Dirt 2 so am assuming it is in the game. My only other tool I have found I have is Far Cry 2.

I don't play COD, unlucky.

I have 480 SLI because I game at 2560x1600. A single GTX 480 is overkill for your resolution, but hey I don't know anything at all ;)

Ask rjk about his single GTX 480 at 1920x1200, he flys through every game title, so if you need a GTX 480 at your res, something is going wrong somewhere down the line.
 
It comes down to what you play, if it's only COD then yes a 480 at 1680 is overkill, games I mentioned as well as future DX11 titles will certainly not be overkill at my rez, so basically it's nonsense to claim a card is overkill for a certain rez when said card struggles to give a 60 fps average in demanding games at that rez.

I'm with raven tbh. I play at the same res (although granted I bought the card with the foresight to get a new monitor at some point :p), but it is a case of do I want more pixels or more fps with all the trimmings? More fps please. I have to agree that the vram is overkill though.

Overkill right there lol, 1680x1050 a 460 rez hmmmmm, 460 would be on the floor gasping for air at the same settings.

I'd like a bigger screen as well but tbh, I can't stand the quality of sub £200 ones. And I'm not sure if upgrading to U2311H would be a decent enough upgrade. It would cost me some £100-120 to upgrade to that.

OP question, should we bench at the best overclocks we can achieve or the "everyday" ones? :)

Why not both :). It is always interesting to see the difference.

Currently not overclocked here, but this has got me wanting to overclock again!
 
Just an idea but it might be an idea to restart the thread with an opening post with say 3 or 4 bench test links choose 1 res then we can all run the same tests with the same res with diff harware :D
 
I thought the whole purpose of this thread was for members to post their personal benchmarks at whatever settings they feel comfortable with.

AVP - Unsure what settings I benched this at, guessing my 24/7 settings and probably at 4.2ghz at the time. its at 1680 res to compare to my mate (his max res)

5970, not two 5870's :) You put that line at the bottom of your post so i replied - its just a bit of banter ;)

Point being ATI really do suffer with their Tess performance against Nvidia so yes I was quite pleased with the result
