Post your uni room thread!

Ok, here are a few pics of my room, along with which, if you could, please give some suggestions as to how to make all the wiring a little less messy. Need to move CPU around etc, but where so it'l be least messy.
I kind of like it on the left side now cause that way heat from the thing doesn't come on my face. so if that's still possible, would be nice. : )

Some of the the uni rooms I saw at the old newcastle halls were a shoebox by comparison unless you shared with someone - bigger room especially if they quit after a few weeks. They had a bed at the end, a desk at one side and a waderobe at the other and bugger all room between, some of the halls shown in here actually look nice, how things change.

Is that a NAD C270 I spy there?

C272.

Raymond/benneh - its a Musical Fidelity A3 preamp, yes :)

Stereo imaging is absolutely fine with my speakers like that. Its obviously not as good as when I am at home, but good nonetheless.

Now Thats got me all Nostaligic. As if this thread isn't bad enough reminding me of the good old days at uni (Been in the real world 2 years now and it's not all it's cracked up to be!) I spent three years in halls in derby Sir Peter Hilton for 2 years and peak court for one! Those were the days but hey Union 1 was still around!

Is it possible to have fun in Stafford? :D Worst place for a uni ever.. at least when I was there

How long ago were you here?

Its pretty good here. Only thing being the Ration of blokes:girls.
Lots of competition here for the birds ;)

The chant "Oh You can't get sex in Stafford" is often sung out on a night on the way home!

Its not as good as some places look like, but I come from a small town with about 2 good local places to go to for anyone around 18.

I'm now in my third year at Oxford Brookes doing Architecture. So living in rented house now, excuse the crappy pics

Got a few of questions:
When staying in halls, how much does it cost for the whole year?
If you decide to go home for the holidays, such as christmas, can you leave all your belongings in your accommodation for when you get back, or do you need to clean everything out?
When you purchase the accommodation within halls, are you provided with things like a desk, seating etc?
Do you need to purchase additional things like a broadband connection?
What else could you tell me about it? :p

Thanks :)

Obligatory HOLY THREAD REVIVAL! :D :p

1) Will vary uni to uni. Here at Stafford I have 3 payments of around £780 for the first year
2) I think that can vary uni to uni aswell. I hope I can leave stuff here though, don't fancy trying to get everything in a parents car again :s
3) Yeh it should be provided.
4) Got my Connection as part of the package here going through resnet. 10mb connection, sadly quite a lot of ports arae blocked or really tight. It takes about 20 minutes to send a 80kb jpeg to someone back home over msn.... :(

Uni accomadation rocks just for the social side of it, got a lot of freinds living off of campus, and they all seem to regret it.

1) Cost over £3000 for me. It really depends on what facilities it has. Ensuite will cost more, and if you share a room you'll pay a lot less.

2) Depends whether they use the rooms for something during holidays. Sometimes those rooms are used as temporary accomodation for people attending conferences and other events during holiday time.

3) Almost always.

4) The university will provide a connection but they will most likely charge for it. Chances are it will be cheap for what you get. High speed and hopefully no download limits. What you can use it for varies greatly. Some won't even allow games and some don't even bother blocking P2P (although all officially disallow filesharing even if they don't actively stop it).
