So it looks a cert that we’re gonna have two weeks of postponed fixtures in one of the most packed seasons ever. We now won’t have any prem until early October. That means a max of around 8 rounds until the WC, which means we have to squeeze 24 rounds in from Boxing Day until the end of the season, about 23 weeks, plus Europe and FA Cup.

Gonna be a real survival of the fittest

The biggest squads are laughing, biggest spending power, recruit whoever is a superstar at the WC for the return of the season.

Especially city, their superstar isn't even going to the WC!

Could they not bolt on one round to the end of the season?
Quite comfortably, 2 weeks is even a possibility if no english club is in the champions league final, so the PL could give notice that the season is extend by at least 1 week, and do sat/wed/sat with notice that if there isn’t a English club in the CL final it will be extended another week and go sat/sat/sat taking away the wed game

Lmao **** the people who have spent money on travel, involved organisation of catering preparation and any other expense involved in preparing for these

It's a pity they were cancelled but understandable too.

Man Utd are still playing as planned on Thursday against Sheriff (abroad).

Hardly a big deal. Half of the teams will barely play 3 whole matches and most teams will have 75% of their squad having a month off. Who exactly are you worried about?

Same thing applies to bad weather. Plenty of fixtures are postponed on the day during times of bad weather. No one made a fuss of travel, accommodation, catering etc. The death of the Queen is a big ******* deal in the UK. People just need to suck it up and just wait patiently for a few weeks.

It's a big deal to some people but I'd suggest the number of people that it's a big enough deal to justify cancelling everything and sitting at home isn't as big as you think. I'm currently at a big event for my business (and have been since Friday) where the average age is over 60 and the attendance is barely 5% down. If barely 1 in 20 oaps care enough, I doubt there's a great deal of people in younger age groups that care.

Also your weather comparison isn't really fair. They typically have no choice and cancelling is a last resort where as this is a decision to cancel events when they could have gone ahead, as numerous others have. I did read a something on twitter from some legal eagle that suggested that clubs could be held accountable for supporters lost travel and accommodation expenses, which they wouldn't in the case of a cancellation caused by the weather etc.

Whatever decision was taken would have left a small number of people upset though. The majority of people are in the middle, not particularly arsed.

Should have taken some time before making the decision - the sensible thing would have been to play this weekend and cancel next. Police travelling to London for the funeral from all around the country may now take next weekends fixture decision out of the leagues hands.

I can see next weekends going aswell tbh.

I honestly think they will go ahead. It was a mistake cancelling this weekends considering every other sport went ahead with their fixtures. People are going to be ****** off if they cancel next weekends games as well. let the fans go, sing the anthem etc and then have the day off on Monday. At least they can't cancel the European games mid week.

It’s about the policing though. The FA won’t have a choice if the police say they cannot adequately police the games.
