Very interesting as in my interview to work at a gas pipeline company i asked why no holders.Gas in the pipes is under pressure but not to provide storage.
If they stopped feeding gas into the pipelines how long would the gas already in the pipelines supply the UK?Very interesting as in my interview to work at a gas pipeline company i asked why no holders.
The answer i wa given was it is stored in the pipework.
I know that there quiet a few pressure gauges used are 70bar.
Dailies for gas to go up then, they were high in the summer due to EU filling their gas storage.![]()

I want shell to do itReceived an email from E.on today inviting me to take part in "a series of Energy Shift events throughout winter" where I could "earn" around £100 over winter if I meet their targets*.
*£100 is based on the average user hitting their turn down targets, over 29 events over the winter period between November and March, based on an assumed incentive payment of between £2 - £4kWh.
so that averages out at saving ~1Kwhr electric ( 100/£3/29 ) probably on 29, 2 hour 4:30pm-6:30 slots*£100 is based on the average user hitting their turn down targets, over 29 events over the winter period between November and March, based on an assumed incentive payment of between £2 - £4kWh.
Prepare for 7 days outages now !!
Not sure, some people have reacted very bad to me suggesting they turn down their thermostats or turn off their heating for many its a red line.The mechanism by which the cuts might occur isn't so clear -
if there aren't enough renewables, then they'll choose to preserve the domestic gas supply(& avoid dangerous depressurization), rather than using gas to maintain power generation;
this should mean if they told people to seriously turn down gas heating the electricity cut might be avoided, which you would have thought many people would prefer, to a power cut.

I suppose the government is trying to not be unpopular by choosing to not do a "turn down your thermostat" campaign. I can imagine headlines about people freezing in their homes because the government couldnt secure energy supply.
