POTY & YPOTY

Because they arent during play

I agree with you but on the other hand Im not sure Rooney has actually been given that many penalties to take this season (ie few have been awarded when he was playing)

Think he's scored 4 or 5 penalties in the league last time I checked. I do agree, I think they should only count towards Team total goals not players goal records.

Why does everyone here seem to think that penalties aren't goals?

It's because pointing to Lampard and saying oh but he scored x amount of goals come the half way point means the square root of nothing if the majority of them were basically free shots at goal in which I'd bet he had nothing to do with the award

DM seems to use penalties as a negative for Rooney and his goal scoring yet a positive for Lampard and his contribution at such a such a time during the season. I wouldn't mind but Lampard has scored way more pens than Rooney this season

That I can understand, as a chelsea fan I can tell you that even though Lampards achieved his highest tally in the league this season, it's not been his best season.

What happens if a player's clean through and certain to score but gets pulled down? Should a goal that would've been scored now not count towards a players goal tally because it was scored from the resulting penalty?

Don't worry, we don't all think like that ;)

Any player that can handle pressure should easily slot it home, especially the likes of Lampard etc. who are regular penalty takers and no doubt practise them often in training. I can't accept that a penalty favours anybody but the taker, especially when the taker is a professional

Not sure how DM or anyone really can argue with Rooney as POTY considering he has made United competitive this season and been so average without him.

Milner... well yeah let's be honest Cesc is better and has been much better, even if ocasionally he doesn't turn up, Milner went through a spell a few weeks ago where he did nothing. For me Cesc is in a different class.

Would be kind of hard for Lampard to pip Milner to YPOTY though DM.

He is a young 30 year old :D

Fab not getting the young player award is a bit of a joke but then again he might have been nominated more for POTY rather than YPOTY so he probably lost out that way.

At least the farmers have something to put up on their crop fields now. :p

If Fabregas had won YPOTY they'd have to give him POTY as well as by definition he would have had to have had a better year than Rooney.
