Power supply dead after less then week

Hopefully you will be fine, kolink make fairly resonable cases, but PC cases are just metal or plastic boxes at the end of the day... power supplies are a whole different kettle of fish.

Just a thought, but if your last system "just died" and the same happened with your new one.... you might want to invest in some sort of UPS buffering or at very least one of those surge-protector 4-way boards.

I can't afford anymore delays the new PSU is coming tomorrow so hopefully I don't have anymore issues. I appreciate all of your help, I was surprised how many of you offered feedback and suggestions it made things alittle less stressful, though in hindsight I probably should have just gone with the PSU you guys recommended and payed the difference but Im so strap for cash already and the seagate seemed like a decent upgrade so I agreed. I can't really fault them on there support, they were fast to respond and helpful it's just been a bad experience of delays getting the system, chasing for my free offers, then the PSU dieing after literally a few days use. If I have any problems with the new PSU I will report back. The case is kolink and Im very happy with it so far lets hope it doesn't spontaneously combut too. Thanks

That's why this forum was started originally, for people to help others and overclocking when it was in it's infancy. There are some members on here who are quite frankly a waste of space but on the whole most of us are more than happy to help others. After all, we all had to learn this stuff from somewhere. Those of us who have a fair bit of knowledge now knew very little in the early years and like myself joined this forum to learn and get advice. I and many others are now in the position where I can pass on my knowledge and experience to others and this forum is a valuable font of knowledge and hopefully will be around for a long time yet.

Kolink make some very good cases but their PSU's are mostly garbage and should be avoided. The Core and KL series have the cheapest nastiest internal components while the Modular Power and Enclave series are supposed to be a step up they still use cheap internals and a terrible fan which apparently has very high failure rates. Even the gold rated Enclave only has a 3 year warranty so they still won't stand by their product. I would never buy or advise anybody to buy a Kolink PSU. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Kolink case because they make some of the best bang for buck cases on the market but as for their PSU's, look elsewhere.

Thanks for the info it's always good to use forums to get some advice or second opinion, my nightmare however continues, I just received the new PSU hooked it up hit the power switch and besides a small clicking noise nothing happened. Looks like im back were I started.....

Edit: Im sorry guys false alarm my dad was trying to be helpful and he fitted the new PSU but he plugged in the PCIE into the CPU. I should have checked he had done it correctly.... System is up and running nothing has exploded yet. Sorry for the mix up Im just glad im back now typing on a usable desktop...

Got to ask the obvious.

Checked all power cables again and switch on the back of the Psu ?

That click propably came from PSU shutting down when protections got triggered.

If it had been Kolink cheapo connected that way, protections might not have worked as well.
More things monitoring and more reliably working protections are one area where higher PSUs are better than cheapos.

Slightly embarrassing :')
Also when doing something inside case/adding parts never close case untill you've tested that everything works.
Makes it easier to attach that cable you forgot...;)

Yeah as my Dad fitted the PSU I didn't think to check something that basic, we eliminated parts one by one thinking maybe a faulty part was stopping it from booting I thought. Then he said wait what is this lead with CPU on it, then I was like noooooo facepalm....

Not sure if I should start a new thread somewhere for this but im having a weird problem, was having it when I first setup when I had my kolink of death PSU, my monitor is new also which is Dell S2721DGFA 27 Inch QHD (2560x1440) Gaming Monitor, 165Hz. Im on Windows 11 lastest updates and graphics drivers. Im encountering this really annoying screen dimming issue, it's almost like my screen brightness or contrast is shifting ever so slightly all the time, sometimes I can really see it shift if I change the window size of a program, but the main problem is it goes to dark. I came across a thread saying it was a display driver bug with Windows 11 and Nvidia was fixed it in the latest driver. Im on that version and still having the issue I even used Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode and did a clean install of my Nvidia drivers without luck. I think it may be a HDR issue in Windows 11 possibly but im not sure. Turning HDR mode off Windows 11 looks awful on my display even if that was to fix the problem. I have checked night light is disabled, I tryed disabling the game bar, I've looked for all kind of dimming and brightness options in Windows but Im running out of ideas. The only thing I could think of is my actual monitor doing something but I can't see anything obvious in the settings that would be causing it....

after reading this thread im surprised overclockers are even selling the Kolink psu's and even worse, using them in their pre built systems. ive read a few problems on here to do with kolink psu's and from what ive seen its best to avoid them and always buy a decent quality one :) make sure the gfx card is is using 2 cables from the psu not just 1 cable split in to both slots on the card!

You should see some of the horror story pre-builts on Hardware Nexus, from Dell et al - on one of them, once the side panel was off, it looked like something from 2005.
