Well i was away for 4 days, and turned all my PC off at the mains as i wasn't going to be using it. I get back after being away, turn the mains on, press the power button on PC, and nothing. Check inside the case, mobo lights are on. Check all leads, everything is plugged in. I have all my stuff plugged into a 6 way extension plug, so i took just the PC plug out, and put it straight into the mains. The pc now powers up for about 0.5 seconds. PSU, cpu, case, gfx and mobo fans/lights all come on, and then turn straight off. But one of the PSU fans keeps spinning until i turn the PC off at he mains.

PSU borked? The extension plug isn't surge protected, but all the other equipment i had plugged in is fine...including my laptop. Any ideas?

Sounds PSU-like, I would probably be looking at that first if it were me. Don't suppose you have a multimeter and you can test the psu to see if it's supplying volts?

Also just incase, as I've done it before (:P), you didn't accidently catch the on/off switch on the back of the PSU by any chance? I'm assuming not however if the PSU fan spins until you turn it off at the wall.

Hey,

I can't afford to buy a new PSU at the moment, need to get my credit card paid off :p And i don't have a multimeter to test it. This was inevitable though....its a hiper type r

Took the psu out today to check everything was connected/looked normal, put it back in and its all working. Mind boggled as too what the problem was.
