Powerballs

Just got one of these things.

Ow! you can certainly get sme muscle burn on one of these things. Addictive though, been playing with it for the last 1/2 hour and now my wrists are still trying to gyrate. :p

probably already said but we used to have a 6million page thread on powerballs. had an ocuk league table and stuff. I managed about 13100, will have a go tonight and will get around 10000 i reckon :( if that

I've had one for a while, got a new neon one about 8 months ago (ok so I guess it's not that new now..)

I can get 12800 with my left hand and 13800+ with my right (I'm right handed). as far as them getting knackered goes there's a few rules you should try not to break if you want them to last:

1. Never place them on anything hard and if you do put them down on the flat counter side NOT the gyro. Preferably keep them in thier original boxes to avoid damage.

2. Don't EVER drop it, I let my mates practice with my old one before I let them near the neon one :p

3. keep it clean!

I never use the string that's supplied with them now, found that they had a habit of damaging the bottom of the gyroball casing and I like to keep mine in tip top shape :D it doesnt take long before you can start them with your thumb anyway.

If you like the plastic ones, wait until you try one of the metal ones. Believe me they're heavy as hell and make your wrists ache like the plastic ones never could.

I don't run mine with the counter because as it's more or less completely made of solid stainless steel you're never going to break any records, but give it a 15min blast and your forearms won't stop pounding for ages.

And it's sexy too...

it is nice yes, but mine now sits in its clear case doing nothing :/

makes so much noise above 10k!

Damnit, anyone got any tips? Cant seem to get over 9700ish at the minute.

near 10k the sound on both of mine changes, remember to rotate in smaller and smaller circles, keep your arm steady. at 10K + your hand is barely moving and the rotation takes on far more of a "side to side"

Hard to describe but focus most on the rotation dont worry too much about arm to start with, once you've practiced enough you'll manage it. A lot of the problem that new users find is it takes them so long to get to 9000rpm +. people who have used it for a while can get there in next to no time so their arms and hands aren't as tired = higher score :D

Real skill comes when your using two of them at once (get your mate to start one for you) it's a great laugh as you look like a right monkey ;)

Take off the rubber band, unscrew both halfs of the ball then pop off the speedometer. Push the rotor through the hole the speedometer was in until the rotor mechanism and the plastic runners is moves on pop out (it may take some force the first time but it will move, don't worry)

Then clear out all the plastic fragments that are coating the plastic runners and the rotor support band.

Then put it back together again, in the reverse order as to how you took it apart.

The problem is that as the rotor is so heavy it takes some time to wear into the runners and parts of the rotor support band get shaved off. Don't worry, it's normal. After cleaning mine and getting it worn in properly it's smooth as butter and only makes a nice hum, rather than the grinding sound you're probably getting.

nice copy / paste ;]

mine doesnt make a grinding noise, at low rpm its a quiet hum, but up above 10k it screams, its a gradual rise in noise as expected tbh.

Do these actually build up arm muscles though? I wouldn't expect a great deal of change but are they more than just a toy to compete with?

Yeah, they do. It can take a while but you do see a difference, I need to get mine out again. :o
