powering mobo without CPU

by total mistake i booted up my pc without a cpu in the mobo. probably for around 10 seconds.

how bad is this? :confused:

not getting a new cpu for a bit so just wanted to know.

Should be no problem whatsoever. Don't worry about it :)
 
yea just done some research and I've spoken to people that have done it loads (why i dont know)

just had a bit of a freak out, im fine now.....inhale.........exhale and save.

You'd be surprised. I had a system in last month which said on the paperwork 'does not post'. After a few mins off came the heatsink to change the mobo and erm where was that Sempron gone :eek:

nah my machine was sitting empty (no cpu or HS) and i'm fixing my mates, his sound card was playing up so without thinking i though i'll give it a try in mine lol. :o
 
some boards will reset the bios when booted to without a cpu, but no, you can't damage it this way :)

ah right lol, makes a little more sense.
