Hi All I want some info .. I have got some D-Link AV500 Powerlines and i want to know if i have the B.T Hub & modem do i connect one in the Ethernet socket where the modem is connected or the one next to it which i think is a LAN ? Sorry if this sounds thick lol :confused:

Homehub ethernet socket -> adaptor.

That's how I've got it :)
 
The powerline connects to an Ethernet/LAN port on the router. It plugs in as if it were your computer, to put it in easy context.

ok thanks so i,m i right in saying i,d have 2 cables coming from the B.T Hub ?1 to the modem and B.T Hub and 1 from the B.T Hub to the powerline plug

Yup, just like that.

I take it the back looks like this

If so then the modem goes into the red one and then the Powerline plugs into one of the yellows.

Are you going to be running your 'puter straight form the HH? If so, then put your computer into port 4. If you are running your computer from the end of the powerlines, then connect the powerline to port 4 for max speeds

Great ! thanks ..I have my homehub and modem downstairs in the hall ,so will connect one powerline there , my p.c is upstairs so should i still use the socket port 4 on the hub ? :confused:
 
Yup.

You will have modem connected to red port and then powerline connected to GigE 4. Then upstairs, out of powerline and into computer.

The reason for using 4 is that it operates at Gigabit Ethernet speeds (1000) while the other 3 only operate up to 100. With using the AV500 you wont realise the best speeds using the first 3.....

many thanks very informative info :) another think related to the powerlines , in the box i have a a CD Powerline AV500 Passthrough Adapter Ver 1.00 (EU) do i need to install this ?
 
You do not need it to make it work, BUT, I would install it as it allows you to monitor the speed of the link from your computer and will also allow you to update any firmware on the adaptors too.
