I've just booked prague for myself and the missus in a couple of weeks, staying in the new town not too far from the museum.

I'm just wondering what sort of prices do you get charged for drinks, eating out etc? Any good recommendations? Places to avoid etc?

that end of town is not "couple friendly" especially at weekends but you are still close enough to the nice bits

drinks can be anything from 50-£2.50 for a beer depending on where you go

a decentish meal out will cost £10-15 each ,a posh one £40 each

tues-fri you should be ok

that end of town is strip club/brothel land along with the stag parties that go with it and the dealers and gangs of african club touts annoying everyone, this is mainly weekends though

Just while on the topic of Prague. Is it worth pre-booking a taxi with Taxi Transfer for £15?

Or just as easy/cheaper getting a taxi when you get there? We arrive about 4-5pm and heading to this hotel

Thought it would be easier to add to this thread rather than start a new one, hope you don't mind quackers :)

15 quid is fine and will save the risk of being ripped off

I am in Prague for 3 nights from 9 July staying at the www.hoteljosef.com

and 2 nights from 5 October, no hotel booked yet for this one

Link broken for hotel.

Will book the taxi :) Is it straight forward to get to the airport without a taxi, as we fly back about tea time. So was thinking of just making our own way back....if it's going to be complex then will book a return taxi also :)

Beautiful city ruined by English louts and the associated trade :(

It hasn't been ruined at all. When I went in December I saw very few English there.

I can recommend the airport shuttle, service was great.

The place was infested with matching t-shirt clad numpties on the Fri/Sat when I was there in July, plenty of bars around the city centre that don't allow stag parties though which is good :)

For 50p you can buy a transport pass. Get the bus (think it's the #119) from the airport to Dejvicka station then hop on to the metro into the city centre. Much better than £15 for a taxi :)

Lies.

I'd be in the shuttle again. So much easier than carrying your own bags and you get dropped where you're staying instead of messing about.

When I'm on holiday I don't really care for saving a few quid and giving myself more stress.

Taxi is not worth getting, soon as your out the airport you can get a bus which runs every few minutes to within a few minutes of where you will be, that said, I got a taxi on the way back, cost around £10 from the hotel.
Went in.. november.
Avoid any shops selling jewelry without the mark outside it (forgot what this is)
I got the best fillet steak I have ever had, for £8, what i wouldn't give for another.
