First I was like: :D

Just £189.99 Inc. VAT

BUY NOW

Then I: lol'ed and sadfaced :(

No wonder people pirate stuff.

Ridiculous comment. You wouldn't steal petrol just because it became more expensive, you'd either use less, or you wouldn't drive.

The OS IMO is so fundamental that it's foolish not to purchase it - and for Ultimate, it's a pretty good price IMO.

loads of fuel was stolen when the price went up.

Yes an OS is needed but when you can have a free one from ubuntu etc it does make this look a bit OTT and monopolistic.

I dunno for the little extra you get it doesn't seem worth the extra price.

the 70 hp one though is defiantly a good price :D

I agree, I don't need the Ultimate edition, hence why I just went for pro which I pre-ordered for under £80 (before I saw the ad here on OcUK) but that seems perfectly reasonable to me. Companies need to make a living after all. :)

I think he does have a bit of a point tbh

Pirate software is quite easy to get hold of and if the price seems unjustified to some people then they may be more likely to use an illegal copy

I have seen comments on other forums where people have that frame of mind where they would only buy a legit copy if it was fairly priced (in their opinion) or else they would just download a cracked version

Not in proportion to the amount of software that is illegally installed / downloaded. And the conviction rate is reasonably high with fuel thefts from what my friends in the biz tell me - they could be mistaken of course. :)

If pirating software was as easy to trace as someone who didn't pay for petrol I'm sure less people would do it.

Exactly there are free ones about, so why pirate if you cant' afford it?

I just think it's ridiculous complaining about a price of something you need to make your computer work where there are viable alternatives. You don't *need* to upgrade, so just stick to what you've got? Why upgrade if you can't afford it - simple, you don't, therefore you're not out of pocket.

because thats what they know and not linux. hopeully soom the Linux empire will expand to the point people will start doing this and Ms are forced to reduce the price.

Ms force you to upgrade by stopping support.

Wouldn't we all. :(

I'm afraid such is life, nothing is as cheap as we'd like it. Either way I don't believe in doing something illegal to save a few pounds.
