Pre-ordered a PS3 - that was easy

I think people should maybe realise there is no such thing as a "Guaranteed Launch Day" anything.
Sure you can do a lot to maximise your chances - but you cannot guarantee anything no matter what a store tells you.

I have done mine with an online retailer. Used the super saver delivery option so that it comes a few days after launch. That way if the games' reviews are pants, I can send it back in plenty of time. :D

You can use any HDMI cable with the PS3 - so they wont be a problem.

Are you sure ? I thought they would try amd make money by creating a ps3 proprietary connector at one end (surprised they didnt actually as it would get a little more money rolling into them from each console)

So does getting one at launch mean getting one on launch day or just the launch window?

Launch day where i work. We are in *** process of getting permission to open at midnight for sales of the PS3, so id imagine its launch day ;)

I'm pretty much guaranteed a launch day console - put down £20 almost a year ago now at a local place, 4th in the line. So unless they only get allocated 3 consoles on launch day, I'll get one. :)

I take it these are all going on the bay?
Good place to put if you want to lose money. PS3s' aren't fetching big money at the moment. Import PS3s are selling for sub £400.

Which is good thing, as the real gamers can easily get one at launch.

would you pre-order a seat on the titanic ?

I'm really excited about getting one now. Considering I'm interested in all bits of it - card readers, games, Blu-ray films, I'm content right now.

You mean the 8800 that is crippled in vista due to driver support and the DX10 that has precisely 0 games for it. Yeah, good plan.

Yeh your rite. To get grapics like the ps3 id need 2 and then some new memory and new mobo and new processor all because comps change every 10 min. Least if i got a ps3 havt got to worry about new hard ware coming out the ps3 wil last least 5 years. My latest pc ive spenk 4k on and its running slow in games now only had it a year. Let me think £600 for ps3 or £1500 on upgrades on my pc.

Well, I strolled into the trafford centre tonight, popped £50 deposit down at a well known chain and got a guaranteed launch day console. Didn't think it would be that easy. I can also get my deposit refunded if I want as well, so no risk.

Anybody else preordered?

Are shops planning a midnight launch?

cheers

I got my dad to pre order mine with £50 deposit i was 112th in the list they said i might get one might not they didnt kno.

I got my PS3 just over a month ago & it cost me considerably less than the UK retail price. Even if you count import duties & tax, its far too expensive here.

In regards to the OP, What is the guarantee?

Do they give you a discount when they cant supply one or just say oh well there will be some in next week?

Just curious.

That's probably because the UK launch is so close. They'll go for silly money on Ebay. I think it'll be the trend of every new console launch from now on.

I've pre-ordered one myself.
