Predict the technology in 2025

Google Glasses (GG) will be out and probably in their 4th or 5th generation, possibly envisioning a contact lense prototype.

Apple will have just launched the iGlasses 2 which won't do half of what GG1 were capable of but will make several inaccurate claims along the lines of "changing everything" and "just works" in their advertising. Also they'll have several large lawsuits against Google/whichever company Google has producing the glasses, claiming it was their idea whilst trying to file retrospective patents in an attempt to pre-date the Youtube video of GG show in early/mid 2012.

Gentically modified Smart iMonkies (TM) is where it's going to be at.

They iron, they clean, they shop, they drive you home from the pub, they remember birthdays, they're babe magnets. Wives will be defunct, sell them on eBay while there's still a market for them.

Without reading the whole thread, sex robots. Has anyone mentioned sex robots yet? If not, sex robots. Definitely sex robots*.

I bloody hope so anyway!

Fast charge capacitor style battery's will be the norm, full charges in under a minute, wireless charging for all mobile devices in all popular restaurants/bars etc built into the table so all you do is place you phone down while you eat or drink, we will never have to consciously charge our devices again.

Fold-able film displays so that mobile devices can be multi sized, one device is a 5 or 6" mobile phone and expands to a larger tablet.

holographic 3d displays and huds will be old tech by then.

Wireless video links between devices, also i think we will be moving towards wireless power supply for our TV's and the like.

We will be making great progress in neural links between users and machines, hands free control of devices will be the push by then.

Storage for all device will be cloud based with NAS systems at your home being linked to all your mobile phone, computers, tablets and televisions, devices will be sold with no storage on board and it will be an added extra to have some. Actually more likely to be closer too 2035 for this as i think the network infrastructure will be what holds this back, to be viable id imagine 100mb connections is a minimum for moving large HD content files around on the go.

virgin will offer 1000mb service, traffic shaping hours will be from 6am to 3am and uploads will be 15mb :D packet loss will also still be an issue at peak times.

cher will still look exactly the same from the neck up and Simon cowl will be president of the united states and have declared war on the rest of the world! the Uk will have been sold to the Chinese as labor and be comprised of nothing but manufacturing plants.

avergae size of torrent fils will be 50gb+

An interesting mix of over- and under- prediction. AR/Google glasses stand out as the most wrong prediction.

I agree - decent VR/AR glasses - these are going to improve exponentially over the next few years

Recently bought the Vitures and was blown away - I can honestly say that it's my go to when watching movies/TV shoes

Edit : Adding #viture viture as there's literally no discussion about them on these forums ?!

What do you reckon the PC, phones, etc... is going to be like?

Remember, 12 years ago, most people did not have laptops. Most people had beige boxes and CRT monitors.

IMO...

Smartphones will replace laptops and desktops for most people. This will be the setup for most people.

An average storage will be around 2-3TB for phones. 5-10TB for desktops/laptops.

12-16GB of RAM, an average.

Windows, OSX, Linux, most likely unified platforms of mobile and desktop OS'.

Fanless laptops, SSD will be on all laptops.

5G connections, most carriers will become ISPs basically.

Even a cheap laptop will be incredibly overpowered for a normal consumer

Web apps are going to be even more powerful, most people will store all their data in the cloud.

Everything will have a touchscreen.

Maybe a touch recognition on the phones... recognizes an owner's fingerprints, unlocks.

Google's 3D maps will cover most of the world, it's going to be glorious!

4th gen XBOX, PlayStation 5... will probably be amazing.

Shocking amount of accuracy here!

In as much as I'd love to agree and being a Samsung DEX fanboi, the uptake is just not there yet.

If however Samsung keeps DEX and launches a trifold then it would be a big game changer.

I tried lugging around a monitor but it wasn't practical. DEX works beautifully with my Viture glasses BUT I don't alf look a pillock with my glasses and a wireless keyboard and mouse in front of me :D
