Why do people keep going for ex players. Look at Brighton. They got themselves an absolute peach of a manager.

Nothing I have seen from Rooney suggests anything else than getting Everton relegated.

this exactly. Everton would have been better off getting DiCanio in if they are going full retard, at least he would have beaten a tune out of the players. Wha is Rooney going to do, ???draw on his extensive experience of managing "big clubs" in relegation battles. It's a joke, I am sure the fans will love it, because that's all it is at the end of the day, a populist move by the board / chairman to effectively keep the fans off their backs and chanting for them to go at every game. Short termism at it's best.

They'd be mad to go with Rooney tbh, Dyche or Bielsa are favourites outside the ones already mentioned.

Feels like he has to go, Everton are one of the longest standing top flight sides and apart from the Mike Walker era(?) I can't think of a time they've been more in peril. It's not that long ago I thought they had a reasonable side and even allowing for the fact that Richarlison has moved on and Coleman is now past it, on paper they should be doing better. The spine of the team in Pickford, Coady, Tarkowski, DCL etc are all England internationals. The Dele Alli scenario I guess you have to put at Lampard's door, you can't take a punt on someone like that and then fail to get the best out of them and/or give up on them after half a season.

He's done it a few times but has always said he doesn't want the job full time.

Some rumour it'll be Rooney.
Nope, Dunc wanted the job and left because he was passed over again. He only didn’t want it full time the first time because he wasn’t ready. He wanted a full time position, it’s not like he’s been in demand since quitting Everton. he stated himself he left when Lampard got the job because he wanted a full time managers position. It would be a disaster to give it to him.
I don't really rate Lampard at all but he had a tough job there, the club issues are far greater than any manager.

Be good to see Rooney given a crack at it, I think he's decent.

Absolutely not Lampards fault other than really really poor decision making on his part to take such a broken club.
Gutted he's gone, going to be much harder for Leeds to get out of there now.

Leeds are far better than Everton. Klopp and Pep couldn’t save Everton now. They can’t spend out of it. Leeds have far more goals in them and goal threat than Everton. Everton defensively aren’t too bad but can’t score. They are far more likely to go down than Leeds.

Think again, they finished 17th under moyes when Carter was chairman. They only stayed up because Leeds and Leicester were so very very bad. Kenwright came in and they finished 4th the next season. Of course the fans forget that now and how he stabilised the club no one wanted to buy with loans and cheap buys.

The spine of the team is England internationals? Are you having a laugh. Pickford is but England has been struggling for a work class No1 for years. The other 3 you mention, well I’m not sure if you are on a wind up.

Dele Alli is no one’s fault but Dele Allis. No one can get a tune out of him anymore.

How is Lampard not shouldering some blame here? Who signed that load of dross? How many of us on here were saying how poor some of the signings were?

Haven't Everton won 1 in the last 14!? I get they're are a mess above the manager but Lampard is also to blame.
