Regarding Alli, I expected someone to pick up on this, but that's kind of my point - no-one can get a tune out of him, so why bring him in? IF you go down that route, it has to work, you have to have a plan and a very high level of confidence that it's going to work out, otherwise it's just a waste of money and potentially disruptive.

If Alli had been at the club before Lampard it would be fair enough, you can't lay too much blame on the manager because that's the card he's been dealt. But if you go and get, or at a minimum sanction the purchase of Alli then you are inevitably going to have eyebrows raised and your judgement questioned when things don't work out.

How is Lampard not shouldering some blame here?

The club was financial destroyed by all that went before him after Moyes left. What chance did he have when he had to bring in loan players or players no one else wanted near their club because Ancelotti and co threw money at the wall. I listed the utter garbage 10m+ buy Everton made since Moshiri came in. It's not like he was left a credible side to use and not be able to spend anything.

This is football though and he carried the can, imagine if Everton had binned off Moyes when he finished 17th and not stuck with him.

Who couldn't get a tune out of Alli before he went to Everton? Jose. Yet everyone on here and everywhere else was saying Jose threw him under the bus and it was personality clash. He went to Everton because Everton had nothing to spend. They paid no fee for him and it was based off him hitting targets. It was a punt, but not a costly one. That's what he had to do, same with Donny VDB. Again on here he was supposedly hard done by at United.

How is Lampard not shouldering some blame here? Who signed that load of dross? How many of us on here were saying how poor some of the signings were?

Haven't Everton won 1 in the last 14!? I get they're are a mess above the manager but Lampard is also to blame.

He's tactically inept, so has to share some of the blame. Lost the dressing room after the Southampton game from what I've heard.

The blame starts at the top with the owner, board and shocking transfer decisions.

Lost the dressing room? He fell out with a player and rightly so. The fans wanted Doucoure gone after his abysmal display warming up by sitting on the ball as some sort of protest. I hope he did tell them some home truths. The biggest mistake he made was not carrying Gordon to Chelsea for anything over £10m.

Which tactical decisions did you not agree with?

Everton have been run terribly and there isn't a plan there.

That being said other than lampard first half season at Chelsea I don't see him as that good of a manager yet tbh

No you couldn't. Celtic were on for the 10th title in a row and Gerrard did it without getting beat.
Every Celtic fan I know thought Celtic wouldn't win the 10th as the owners thought it would be a walk in the park and wouldn't invest in the team. Besides it's widely talked about who was the actual coach at Rangers during that title. As seen with what went wrong at Villa. I can't see anyone in the top flight being happy getting Gerrard as a manager/coach.

Far too soon to write Gerrard off. He's actually won something.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer won titles with a Norwegian team that had won nothing in their history. Even he is a massive step up from Gerrard and everyone called him a P.E teacher. Gerrard overrated as a manager and overrated as a player. Guy will be forever remembered as slipping and losing the title.

At least both Frank and Gerrard's careers are both finally over now.

Lampards gone now bring in Bielsa. Prob still get relegated because the players are so woeful but at least there will be guaranteed fireworks.

Can't hate on Frank too much though, he's been poor but that Palace game at the end of last season will always be a fond memory such is the absolute dearth of special moment's over the past 30 odd years.
