Their statement basically says they were not aligned in strategy to run the club sustainably so I'd guess he wanted more cash for players and they weren't gonna give, he probably walked when realising.

Sounds like the chairman didn’t like Parker’s after match interview about the players not being good enough.

Would have probably lost the dressing room with a comment like that after that kind of thrashing.

I thought it was a strange, defeatist interview at the time.

Realistically who are they going to get in before the window closes? And whoever they do get will likely want signings in January too. They've spectacularly failed to invest and we're almost guaranteed to go down before and now IMO are. Vastly short sighted by the owners.

What chance has a manager got these days. Win your first game, but then get booted because you lose to City, Arsenal and Liverpool. Results that happen to half the teams in the league but spaced out so it doesn’t seem so bad.

I blame the fixtures computer!

I don't think he's been sacked simply because of the result at the weekend or even the opening few games. His comments after the game made it fairly obvious there were issues between him and the board. When a manager comes out and basically admits the team is **** and to expect more results like the weekends, he's basically asking to be sacked. Mourinho done the same when we beat Utd and he was sacked shortly after too.

Sounds like he wanted investment and some signings, the owners didn’t Or wouldn’t.

Pretty much, it was just a weird tone and language he used to highlight that. Hard to put my finger on it, but like i said above, it struck me as weird at the time.

I guess it had the feel of a toddler saying 'told you it was ruined' and throwing their pottery on the floor.

Feel sorry for Scott Parker. He is actually a better manager than both Gerrard and Lamps but because he doesn't have that name he doesn't get the chance. He also ends up at clubs where he has a fantastic season in the Championship only not to get the backing that the team needs because they are a Yoyo club who only want Prem money to line the fat cats pockets.

They spent 5 seasons in the Premier League and not once did they even think about improving their facilities and ground. 11,000 seater stadium just doesn't cut it in the Prem. I would like to know exactly where did that 5 years of Prem money went because it didn't go into the team or infrastructure.

He really needs to get himself in a sleeping giant. Like Sheff Wednesday or Middlesbrough as they are the kind of teams that would really give it a go if they got back into the Prem.

After Sundays performance I'm getting a little worried about Villa under Gerrard. I appreciate that it takes time to implement new strategy in any real world context, but he doesn't even seem to be set on a starting 11 yet. He's had the entire pre season to configure a side that can hold their own in the first 45 but it's a different side each game. Very frustrating. If he's trying to implement a game plan, it's certainly not visible on the pitch. We're a team of relatively big names but no real cohesion on the pitch, ESPECIALLY when we concede. Nothing to fall back on at all and the game becomes a mad scramble.

I don't want him out yet, or any time in the near future really, but with Arsenal, City and Leicester being our next 3 fixtures stuffs going to get very ugly if we don't decide to at the very least show up on the day.

It wasn't loads. They had a net spend of 49M, 15M, 30M, 62M, 18M in the 5 seasons they were in the Premier League. 34.5 Average over those seasons. They had 500+ million come in with TV money.
It might surprise you, as I know it surprises a lot of supporters, but clubs have to pay more than transfer fees. Bournemouth's wage bill alone was almost 100% of revenue for most of those seasons - they were hugely loss making.

edit: 19/20 season - Turnover of £95m, wages of £108m. 18/19 - Turnover of £130m, wages of £111m and so on.

And they're actual net spend was as follows: 15/16 - £56m, 16/17 - £6m, 17/18 - £46m, 18/19 - £89m, 19/20 - £11m. So an average of just under £42m on average revenues of approx £100m per year and a wage bill of approx £100m per year.
