premiership predictions thread

Aston Villa will definitely finish at least in the top 8.

We weren't too far of a UEFA Cup place last season, which was due to that horrendous run of form over the new year, but with Carew ready for a full season, added to the growing status of Young, Gardner, Cahill, Agbonlahor and Moore, plus some signings from the bank of Randy, I think we will surprise a lot of people.

I've not been so positive about our prospects since c.1997/98 when John Gregory almost turned us into a top six side.

Finally, out of the darkness, may come light!

I think Chelsea will win it - Man Utd will surely be concentrating more on a concerted stab at the Champions League - Ferguson hasn't got many more chances to come, and he's done what he wanted to do - to wrestle the Premiership back from Mourinho.

Pizarro is a crafty signing for Chelsea - not sure about Sidwell, but Ben Haim is also a strong move - I'm sure they will have a £20m+ acquisition lined up too!

Anyone thinking Chelsea will not finish in the top 2 is living in dreamland.

I think Chelsea will finish 2nd but that will be more to do with the teams below them strengthening less than they do. They still seem to have an eye for some very industrious players but not that catch the eye and think you would like to see him in action. Obviously time will tell and I suspect there will be one big name coming into the Bridge

Yeah, I reckon they'll sign a big name as well. With a big name or two possibly leaving in order for it to happen.

Ferguson has never and will never solely concentrate on winning the Champions League. Because if you do, you set yourself up for disappointment because one game can end European dreams and you've nothing else to show for the season. I think the 'Special One' has highlighted how incredibly hard it is to try and win both the EPL and Champions League in the same season. He's had three cracks at it with three Chelsea teams with quality players. He's come close but not close enough.

Sheva looks like the likeley candidate with Chelsea being linked with pretty much every forward from here to timbuktoo.

I think you will find in 2001/2002, the final was at Hampden Park, and it was perceived that Ferguson wanted to lift the trophy in his home city, amid rumours it may be his last season.

As it is, they failed to win it, and Arsenal won the Premiership.

With Money no object (so it seems), if I was at Chelsea, I would definitely look to bring David Villa to the Premiership - He really is a class act - personally, I think he is a better player than Fernando Torres.

Ferguson will even admit that revealing that he was retiring was a bad thing to announce midseason and as such had quite a negative effect on some players. Yes, he remarked that he'd love to win it in his home city, we went out on an away goal. You may also remember that Arsenal went on a massive unbeaten run that season. No one was ever going to knock them off top spot that year.

Still can't see Spurs breaking into the Top 4. Not impossible but very unlikely. Yet I'd say we're the most likely of any team to break their monopoly. Newcastle will be strong but Sam will need time.

Spurs HAVE to keep King, Berbatov, Chimbo and Lennon fit for as many games as possible. Without these players we aren't anywhere near good enough to finsh 4th and this is the difference. Arsenal had injuries to some of their best players and still managed 4th.

Have a feeling Liverpool could be the most likely to fall from grace. If anything happens to Stevie Gerrard then they're no better then Spurs at full strength, he's absolutely vital to them. Sounds daft saying it as Liverpool reached the CL final, something Spurs can only dream of but as we all know Liverpool aren't all that domestically. I'd class Arsenal as a better side.

Chelsea will be more hungry for the title than anyone else next season, they'll win it next year.

Lots of people predicting bad things for Bolton....they do seem to have made some poor signings in McCann and the other fella whose name escapes me right now but they've still got a good squad with the likes of Anelka, Nolan, Stelios etc I'd still predict a top half finish..just, you don't become a bad side over night

I cant be arsed to post a full league table, instead i'll pick ouit certain teams.

Premiership I can't call it between us and Chelsea, how well Nani and Anderson settle may have a lot to do with it.

Arsenal for 3rd if they keep Henry, otherwise Liverpool.

Spurs/Newcastle for 5th. Followed by Everton.

I fancy Reading to have a poor season, fighting relegation possibly.

Birmingham and Sunderland should fair well, mid table for both I reckon.

Derby will struggle.

Middlesbrough and City for relegation.

I disagree with that,Charlton I believe was a decent side and so was West Ham,wouldn't have expected them to be fighting for safety but they did.

Indeed unless Bolton get some decent players i predict a struggle.
Big Sam always got more from that team than i think little Sam will achieve and with Tal Haim leaving and possibly Jaaskalienen going to recoup some money they will have problems
