Premium Bonds - If you post to say how much you've won, please also say how much you have invested.

I didn't get anything, I can only assume there's been some administrative error. I'll look forward to them getting it sorted out in time for the next draw.

I only got £75 - got a feeling this won't be enough -Took car in for MOT this morning

If it passes then it's £25 into budget account and £50 into oil account.

Worked it out a while back that the return from mid 90's is about 1%

Just logged on to NS&I - What a ball ache -

They have a use. Keeping a cash lump for an extension when planning permission approved. With it being safe, easy to access and the potential to make some interest, it makes sense.

I just have half of my emergency fund in premium bonds. Easy to access, and a nice bit of excitement each month to see if I won anything (£100 this month)

All you people with your little £25 wins, you're going to be pretty miffed when they realise their mistake next month and I get the big one ;)

NS&I offers more than Premium Bonds and they secure 100% of your savings, however much you invest and however long you invest it for.

Yes they do, though the returns aren't exactly great as far as long-term investments are concerned! Premium bonds at least have the fun aspect of possibly winning a large prize, one thing that would be nice to see them offer would be something similar to the inflation bonds the US government offers to US citizens and residents there, obvs the UK govt issues index-linked gilts but an NS&I savings product aimed at retail customers could be nice to see.

Prizes don’t carry a time limit, so you can claim as far back as the original 1957 draw.

However, according to MoneySavingExpert, as of November 2021 there were more than two million unclaimed Premium Bonds prizes, with a total value of almost £75m.

The bonds are often bought for a child, who subsequently forgets about them, while prizes can also be missed if NS&I don’t have the correct address for claimants.

Bond holders can ensure their details remain up to date, and also register to have prizes paid directly into their bank account by managing their account online on the NS&I website.

Sadly mine from childhood won the grand amount of sod all but worth checking anyway if you have them

They used to. I have a 5 year NS&I bond currently paying CPI Index-linking + 0.01% that rolled forward from an older CPI linked bond. Strangely nothing like that seems to have been available for new investment for a while...
