Premiums get HDMI

Maybe they reduced the price of the Premuim to clear stocks and replace the stocks with HDMI enabled ones at the old pricepoint. (same as the 60GB PS3 in the USA)

All it needs now is for them to go 65mn, with the quieter drives and even I may be tempted to get one ;)
Incidentally, would these still have a 3 year warranty I wonder?

I want to buy a XBOX 360 what are we talking here a month or a few months to see these new premiums? I don't need a big HDD so the elite would be a waste.

The new ones with hdmi are 65mm.

Don’t think that’s the case the new ones with the HDMI have already started to hit US stores where as I was reading that the 65mm core will not be getting manufactured until next month.

1) Are we going to be able to tell between the HDMI and the regular version in shops?
2) How are the connectors organised? The old one had MS connector which you plug the cable into, this cable also has the optical port. Is the HDMI port on the console, or on a connector that plugs into the console (this connector then has optical), or will you have to connect HDMI cable AND component cable to be able to use optical for sound?
3) What will happen if people take faulty regular consoles back to a shop, and swap it for an HDMI one, but don't swap the different cables?

The sensible thing would be that the HDMI connector is extra, not a replacement of the old connector, that way people RMA-ing their Xbox360 can get a HDMI one in return.

1) Yes, apparently the ones with HDMI will say so on the box.
2) Read the reviews for the Elite, they showed how the cable situation will work. Not a bad system really, as the HDMI port is in addition to the old one, which is still used for audio, should you want to. The old cables will still work, it is not forcing you to use HDMI.

The link has a link to here, with a pic: http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/08/xbox-360-premium-confirmed-shipping-with-hdmi/

The bad news is, we aren't likely to see these HDMI equipped Premium consoles for a while. I was just reading that Australia and New Zeland won't be getting them for a while, and while MS Europe weren't available for comment, i can't see them releasing them while the Elite is a 'new' console.

I also read that there were no plans to add HDMI to Core consoles (This was straight from MS apparenlty), which is a shame, as i'd probably buy one if they did.

Unlikely to happen considering the number of normal xboxes that will be knocking about.

I cannot understand why microsoft did not have HDMI on the xbox 360 to start with ? so now they are to launch new machines with HDMI , not good planing  So now you have to buy a new machine , would you ?

Just shows you Sony are thinking , microsoft are not ,
