Preorder?

first post whos preordering new amd cpu. name is ryzen junkie :D layer it out atleast.

on the topic why would you pre order on unknown ? makes no sense not in a time like we have now where online sales are cut throat. fighting for every sale.

lol because im ordering it whatever the benchmark reveals. If its lower than a 9900k at gaming , it will be a few fps. I can live with that. I prefer AMD and would rather futureproof myself with pcie4 etc and go with the new Ryzen chips.

Still daft to buy on favoutism alone. I understand everyone has their own opinions and can and will freely buy what they like, but to blindly ignore advice and or criticism is a tad silly.
I'll never pre order anything and the best advise, no matter what your own opinions maybe would be to get a good range of reviews on a new products actual release.
Baffles me why anyone would think differently tbh but for those who want to pre order then I guess it should be permitted. Have a nice day

there is no point in pre order now days. web sales are instant on the fly. big players are selling at cut throat rates. its not brick and mortar anymore there is no reason to give money for something you know nothing about. when other retailers will instantly match or be lower than pre ordered price on launch or after. regardless of buying anyway.

Preordering is such a long wait though, I don't see the benefit. When it releases I'll order it for next day, then I've only got to wait 24 hours.

Surely half the fun is seeing the reviews? Watching our favourite hardware channels on YouTube running benchmarks and talking about how amazing they are. I'm buying one regardless but the reviews will be so much fun.

Always worth waiting a few weeks after launch for early teething problems.. driver and BIOS updates are almost certain to be updated one way or another.

Speak for yourself. It's AMD. It's not happy shopper. Why wait for reviews? It's highly unlikely it's going to be slower than a 2700x. It's advertised at higher IPC. Any higher IPC would still make me choose it over a 2700x as I don't want to go Intel. I'll be getting Perhapsthe 3900x despite if it's only slightly better than a lower chip. Perhaps alter your life so you aren't so cocky?
But still, why not wait to see? The fact you use the word perhaps in your sentence suggests waiting for the reviews is common sense you already think is a good idea.

But the 3800x might have some good oc headroom more than the 3900x, which is likely to have latency issues too.

So the 3800x could be much better if you don't have workloads that need more than 8 cores.

No one knows Jack to be honest. The amd announcement just raised more questions.

You're making stuff up.

Latency issues? You do realise IO is not now per die, it has its own separate IO die. Where would the latency come from on the 12 and 16 core? The 2x or 1x CPU die core talk to the same I/O die.

Though it won't necessarily be the case, logically the 3900X will be a higher bin. If it is, then that likely means that with the right cooling and / or power delivery, it will clock as high if not higher.

You know that a 2990WX will do 4.2Ghz all core on a run of the mill water loop and a mATX board? Despite the enormously larger power requirements and heat output than a 2700X, the bins mean a lot.
