Preorder?

You're making stuff up.

Latency issues? You do realise IO is not now per die, it has its own separate IO die. Where would the latency come from on the 12 and 16 core? The 2x or 1x CPU die core talk to the same I/O die.

Though it won't necessarily be the case, logically the 3900X will be a higher bin. If it is, then that likely means that with the right cooling and / or power delivery, it will clock as high if not higher.

You know that a 2990WX will do 4.2Ghz all core on a run of the mill water loop and a mATX board? Despite the enormously larger power requirements and heat output than a 2700X, the bins mean a lot.

Ouch.

I'm not making anything up. I know jack. Lots of people talking about potential latency and oc headroom differences though. These seem to be the concerns/queries people have. Several videos I've watched suggest it's unclear on what criteria you would buy which chip on.

Again.. I've not made anything up. I've not stated anything as fact.

The only latency benches we've seen are incredibly low on both the 6-8 cores and the unannounced 16 core (not aware of any 12 core ones leaking). Lower than Intel, and much lower than Zen / Zen+.

I haven't seen anyone say there are latency doubts since we've got an idea of performance, and that virtually everyone knows there's a discrete controller die.

I've nothing against preorder, the 2700X is a good chip already so 3800X is a safe bet with 5% clocks, 13-15% IPC and no intel hardware mitigations.
Not so sure on the 3700X as the 3600X may be better for gaming due to the increased boost headroom.

3900X is a bit of a wild card, in theory could be better than the 3800X for gaming, but I'm suspicions of the mere $100 price seperation to the 3800X and the 105W TDP. I suspect it will need pretty good cooling to get the best out of it, i.e. a decent multicore boost.

I know at least one retailer that delivers on Sundays and has a very good DSR policy, not that anyone would abuse that if they changed their mind after reading a review but before opening the box. We'll have to see if they have pre-orders.
Maybe Overclockers will decide to open Sunday morning so we can line up outside and collect preorders, or just buy.

I am somewhat hopeful the NDA is lifted a little earlier than 7th so we can all make informed decisions but some times it's fun to roll the dice. Whats the worst that can happen with a few hundred ££ of pc parts!

I for one will be Pre Ordering a 3900x and Gigabyte 570 Xtreme. I game occasionally and edit media a lot. I dont see this as a gamble at all. Upgrading from a 1700X i see no risks in the 3900x as it has higher IPC, faster clock frequencies and more cores/threads. I have been hoping fopr higher quality AMD motherboards so for me the xtreme is a no brainer with its amazing build quality and a boat load of usable features. I for one dont see why people are complaing about prices. 2 years ago the 1800x launched for $499 the same price as the 3900x and its like for like replacement teh 3800x is $150 cheaper.. As of the costs of motherboards it looks liek every price point is still covered with the ultra high end boards now being available to rival the top end Intel motherboards with a great feature set and a high build quality.

I'm not pro pre-ordering for mos things, but if you're in the market for a Ryzen, and you aren't bothered constantly refreshing a page on release day, I see no issue.
We know this isn't going to be the Bulldozer launch, it will be better than their current product.

I think demand is likely to heavily outstrip supply for quite some while, so people would be more upset if there weren't pre-orders.

You think pre-orders will be at reasonable prices?

It's like a reverse auction. Start off high.
Depends. Sometimes prices increase after the initial release if I remember some previous releases of CPU's? I won't be surprised if AMD do an early bird incentive, or at least OCUK.
If people want to buy one soon after release I'd just pre-order if it were me :). Fair play if some want to hold out for reviews, even if I don't see the point :), but we know it's the next step in Ryzen evolution and the first Ryzen to likely be ahead of the competition (core for core etc). It's only Intel vs AMD here - there are no other options unless some folks think they may want to wait to see what Intel bring later in the year/early next year.
I think demand is going to be very high. Snooze you lose...….maybe :)
