You don't, because you mainly can't.

First thing to start with is removing extensions, and connecting to your master socket. But odds are you'll see an improvement in sync rate versus an improvement in SNR margin.

why would it be so high im only 1.7km from the exchange its pluged in to the adsl master stocket

Might be 1.7km by straight line, but it could be a hell of a lot higher by reality.
Non-copper in your line would push up the attenuation too.

Of course, it's possible you've got some crappy extension wiring which might play a (small) part.

UPDATE: As people may or may not know Ukonline had a cap of 500gig a month.They have now changed this less than a week after ive had the service!

They now have a fair use police which is as clear as well water with mud in it!

On a side note there CS has sent me my new router, so i may flash it later with the lastest firmware and see what happens. Although the original one is working now. Almosyt like it needed to be broken in

just cancelled my account with ukonline the service was just not very good will stay wirh cable and see how i go

When I signed up with Uko in Nov05 I was told I could get 12.5Mbits (due to my distance from the exchange), then for the first month I was getting 3.3Mbits and now am struggling to get 1Mbits -they say due to my distance from the exchange, humff.

I tried everything my end including different routers, cables phone boxes, PC's.

Though I have noticed that when I moan at Uko, my speed increases for a short while :confused:

How did you cancel it, dont you have a 12 month contract.?

Im getting fed up with it now anyway.

Im assuming it must be a router issue, as it only needs a reboot to start work again.

Its like its lostr synch like the old frogs used to.

just phone them up and say u are not happy with there new terms etc and they will let u out of it must be with n 30 days
