Presentation - stand up or sit down?

I'd always stand, unless there is a very short distance between where you are and where the interviewers are, in which case I'd sit.

It really depends on the context of the presentation and who you are giving it to. Both are equally valid in certain situations. In your case though I would suggest you stand.

Send in a remote presence device...

To be fair, I don't find it that stupid of a question.

I think it depends 1) Who is the presentation to 2) What is the topic, general presentation or like an important one 3) How big is the room, some rooms are so small it seems silly to stand.

I haven't yet done a presentation sitting down, only the ones over WebEx or telepresence have been sat down.

Has anyone seen the youtube video of the American guy running for some kind of office, he's stood up, starts all calm, then paces around shouting like a mad man. I was kinda hoping someone would have posted the video here, I can't for the life of me remember the name of the video! Its a good few years old *sigh* I'll never find it again.

Also for the OP, definately stand up!

I do plenty of presentations sitting down, I did the presentation for the his job sat down.

It depends entirely on the situation or setting.

Having given many presentations (both seated and standing), often find seated works better when it's more of a discussion piece and a relatively small audience (i.e. less than 5), but standing is when it's a lot to get through and I'm "facilitating" discussion between everyone else in the room (if that makes sense).

Personally though, if I sit down though, my style suffers a lot, I just can't speak loudly, and end up looking at the laptop rather than the audience... standing I find myself acting rather than presenting, but seems to work..

Sit. Never not got a job that I've applied for from sitting, but then, I've never not got a job that I've applied for.

I do monthly presentations for Microsoft to rooms of 10-15 people and never stand. 20 or more, or a theatre setting, then I would stand. Anything less or around a board table, sit, always.
