I ordered a 1TB Sata Hard drive from Overclockers September last year for about £34 or so, now the cheapest I can see is about £79.99

Will prices be dropping again anytime soon?

You can look as hard as you like, the prices are still silly. The manufacturers are still raking in while people are willing to pay.

It's still around £100 for a 2tb drive, which is almost double what they were. Things are supposed to progress, but they aren't. My face is sad.

The last hard drive I bought was a 2TB Samsung in January 2011 for £53. Read it and weep.

Personally I won't buy another until they reach these kind of levels, and at the rate SSDs are dropping I probably won't need to buy a mechanical drive again.

Floods in Thailand gave manufacturers an excuse to raise prices, despite the fact that it only costs them something tiny like £2.50 per HDD or something, and they aren't in a hurry to lower the prices

A few weeks after prices soared back when it was well over £100 for a 2TB drive I bought a bunch from Comet for £70 each on offer, I felt like I was robbing them :P
