Primary School Songs

From the tiny ant (from the tiny ant)
To the elephant! (to the elephant)

That's all I remember, when it was sung properly it was surprisingly awesome :p

I burst out randomly with the following lyric recently:

"It takes 100 thousand years, for a forrest, to grooooooooooooooow"

And to my surprise loads of people seem to know it! There were a bunch of songs all about the rainforest being destroyed that I think loads of schools were given to perform, or something, but I cannot find anything about it on the internet.

"20th century highway man.... stand and deliver! He's heading for the Amazon river!"

"Wild cats, wilds cats, king of the Jungle.... something something... Jaguar!"

"Jungle Disco"

"Emerald crown.... something"

But the first one I mentioned was epic, I still know all the words :o

Anybody else recall this?

"How long will it be, before you can see, that what we are doing is wrong.....?"

I refuse to believe that I'm the only one on here who knows this bunch of songs! Anyone else?

"Autumn days when the grass is jewelled,
And the silk inside a chestnut shell,
Jet planes meeting in the air to be refuelled-
All these things I love so well!

So I mustn't forget,
No I mustn't forgeeeeeeeeet,
To say a great big thank you
I mustn't forget...
"

Mooooooooorning has broooooooooooooooooooooooooken

Or something like that! Can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet!

Recognize most of the mentioned ones!

In my school we all had to go into the main hall for 'assembly'. 2 kids would work the OHP that we would all sing from - half the time they'd put it on the wrong way and everyone would start to laugh.

I remember we had to pray at the beginning too with our eyes shut.

At the end of each week 1 class would preform an 'assemble' where they'd put on a play for the other classes. I played George once from 'George and the dragon', I still have bad flashbacks from that time.

The ink is black, the page is white, together we learn to read and write.................. to read and write.

This song suddenly came into my head the other day. Haven't heard it for years, (obviously!) I wonder if they do still sing it in schools?

I remember 'Sing Hosannah' had a chorus which went 'sing Hosannah to the king of kings, sing Hosannah to the king...' and everybody would still sing 'of kings' on the end, much to the disapproval of the music teacher.

Ok, now I can't stop singing that!

My primary and middle schools were CofE (not sure of many that aren't) but I just went with the flow back then. I enjoyed singing and didn't really care what the words were. I'm sure that wasn't the point though :D

Autumn Days is a nice song whether you're religious or not, you can still be thankful for all the good stuff even if you're only thanking Lady Luck :D

Black Socks

"Black socks, they never get dirty but the longer you wear them, the stronger they get.
Sometimes I think I should wash them but something inside me keeps saying not yet...not yet....not yet"

Doesn't apply to me anymore though lol.

I was in a church of england primary school so I was forced to sing countless hymns. Not pleasant as I wasn't religious (and still am not).

I'm muslim and went to a school where we had to sings hymms. I just sang along while changing the words bit lol.(read: dirty)

I went to a catholic school so we only sung hymns unless it was for something special like the local music festival.
