Prime Day 2020

@Conscript I am a convert to Philips Hue, gradually working my way round the rooms, it is expensive but I don't regret it. Never tried other smart lighting products so I cannot compare.

Yet to suss how to get my Hue to work with my Echo's. I tried a few days back and it couldn't find them all, so I gave up. Will sit down properly and sort it out. I am using the App on Phone/Tablet and set it all up to come on automatically. With the Bridge it just works. The only bulbs which I had to enter the serial number was the kitchen. For the rooms I have not set timers, I have been picking up sensors so you walk into a room and it lights up.

I'll have a look tomorrow, if not leave it until next month. You could try one of the offers tomorrow, if it's not for you, return?

Personally I love my Echo Show (got a couple), purchased instead of DAB radio's which can go for a few quid (Pure etc). I think they are awesome only, I just wish HDHomeRun (streaming live TV) worked on it - that would be amazing!

@Conscript Yes I would say worth it, I paired mine with switches (Dimmer switch is useful) and use routines for wake-up which makes the alarm far less jarring. The Colour bulbs are not the brightest, but they do another which is just shades of white (theres a better term for it but can't think of it) which is brighter. I thought they were a gimmick but very much converted.

Only thing I'm interested in really is SD cards but they are usually more a Black Friday thing for discounts.

Some clothing stuff I will keep an eye on and a few other things like 1-2 pairs of headphones I'd probably buy if the price nudged me to but not in a hurry otherwise.

I was thinking of getting some of these bulbs. We have an Alexa but its a complete gimmick, in my opinion. I basically use it as an elaborate cooking timer and that's about it. Controlling the lighting might make it more worthwhile. I've seen the Hue bulbs on amazon, but there seem to be other brands which do the same thing for cheaper.
Are they worth the extra outlay?

I got an Xiaomi Mi LED Smart Bulb for £14 from Aliexpress, yes, it took about 4 weeks to come but it's been perfect. Works flawlessly with Apple Homekit so can control via Siri and I believe they're also Alexa compatible now :)

It’ll be the usual trash on offer. Electric toothbrush refills, weird niche items Amazon have 50,000 of but only sold 20 this year. I’m not really expecting anything decent at all.

You can tell it's coming up, typical 'sale day' items have been getting more expensive.

Harmony Elite remote, been bouncing between £115 and £180 for a while, now at £280, probably to go on 'sale' tomorrow for £200 :p

Cheers. If they are on offer, I might buy some thenone question though, RE: dimming. Can I dim them even if they aren't wired to normal on/off switches?

I want to use them to control my living room lights (2x table lamps, then some wall and ceiling lights which are operated by a wall switch). I figured I would just fit the bulbs, leave all the switches on, and then turn the lights on and off by voice, and control dimming. Is that possible, or do I also need a proper dimmer switch to replace the wall switch?

You can get them in the UK for the same or less :)

You can dim with the app or voice command via Alexa, also can change colour.

“Alexa, turn living room to red at 50%”

Is it just electronics, or is it across all their categories? I'm hoping for some discounts on weight-lifting gear. It's surprisingly expensive.

Pretty random what it is on - but generally it seems to be tat that doesn't sell well :s

With COVID-19 a lot of weight lifting and fitness stuff seems to have doubled in price due to the demand/supply situation I guess - the treadmill I bought a year or so ago is now 3x the price I paid for it new! if it wasn't for the fact I use it I'd be tempted to sell it LOL.

camelcamel doesn't show prices from the other sites that join in like curry's/lewis's so hotuk is better as a source of best prices, especially hue stuff,
a lot of people seem to make a business of then reselling them on ebay or even MM, foir those that don't do their homework.
