Prince Philip has died

State of this thread.

Honestly didn't know anything about his life until today, what a brilliant man who did so much. RIP.

I got my bronze DoE award in 1968, thanks Philip. You were an inspiration for so many people and many institutions (993 of them).

Someone's been taking out quite a lot of trash in this thread.

This would be a great time to just stfu even if you're dying to whinge about him or the monarchy.

It's a wonder why they don't just go to Twitter and have a circle **** about how awful he is, which a lot of people there already. They can't even take it for even one day.

The compassionate left finding another old white guy to spew hatred at, what a surprise.

I have no strong feelings about Prince Philip except that he was a WW2 Veteran so should be treated with respect for serving his country in the war against Nazi Germany and Fascism.

It wasn't unexpected but a shame that a person who stood up and delivered during the war has passed.

A rough time for the Queen right now but she's absolutely nails. Cretins in here can post whatever crud they like, it's all based on jealousy that they won't ever contribute as much to the world. Sad really, I doubt she looks upon them in such disdain.

I'd agree with you on the Queen and Phillip; not sure about any of the rest of them though.
Personally I think when the Queen passes its likely to re-spark a bit of debate about the monarchy

It'll be very different in a bad way when that day happens. All my Christmas memories from the Queen talking on Christmas day that'll eventually end up no more.

Funny how not much has changed today.

I feel for Harry and megan with how they are allowed to respond to this. I honestly expect 1 of 2 things.

If they attend a funeral, piers will say its disrespectful, if they don't attend, piers will say, it's disrespectful. And then others on this forum will join in.

Well they haven't exactly started well. Their official statement of "Thank you for your service... you will be greatly missed" is very, very cold considering Philip was his grandfather and probably had a great deal to do with his younger years after his mother died. They have painted themselves into a corner.

Do you though, really?

They’ve already acted terribly and done the damage whether they attend the funeral or not. They only have themselves to blame.

They would have known he was clearly very ill and went ahead with their attention seeking media stunt regardless.

The Queen said she was looking to improve race issues within the family, only now after "their stunt". Seems they have brought about positive change as a result.

Personally, I think it needs to go straight to William if they want to stand any chance of carrying on long-term. Prince William would revitalize the family

Yet they will shed tears for a drug driving gangster.

Philip actually achieved something with his life.

RIP old chap.

I can say I’m not a massive royalist. But I certainly had respect for Philip ( once Harry, but that’s been withdrawn now ).
He spoke true and how it was. To be honest we have lost some of this ability in society in my opinion. Some things are crazy. Some ridiculous. We should be able to say so. As Philip always did.
As stated he reached a good age and leaves a good historical legacy.

The negative, hating agenda is sad to see. But wether you agree or not, it goes back to modern times of ideology. Those with strong left ideological ties, can’t condone, or be seen accepting him. Even in his death. Which is very sad to see.

He was a very important figure in this Countries history. Let’s pay tribute to a real man. Real accomplishment, Real service, who certainly deserves any national accolades.
