Prince Philip has died

A very distinguised naval career and, for me, a national treasure and I hope he has found peace.
I don't get the nasty axe-grinding comments online from people who haven't achieved anywhere near what he had in life.

One of the few royals I actually liked, even if he was like your old grandad who has no filter. :D

It was his lack of filter that I most liked. He spoke his mind and damn what people thought. You just dont get that sort of spoken honesty these days, people will zip up their mouths and hide their thoughts rather than stand their ground and just say what they think.

We generally call those people ****holes don't we?

Poor bugger. 99s as good an age as any though I suppose.

Some people do yeah, personally I never have any issue with someone speaking their mind. I find it much more a pity when someone doesnt speak openly. But thats just me. :)
I think it's important that people feel able to speak forthrightly. That's a different kettle of fish to being an a-hole IMO. :D

Agreed matey. My granparents were of a similar generational way of thinking. It doesn't mean the person is nasty.

To be an a-hole imo, would be to say something which isnt what you think but is instead something said just to be an a-hole. Speaking something that you think and someone not liking it though, thats not being an a-hole. Thats just being honest, a person might not like the honesty being said but thats a different thing altogether :)

However, thats probably a different topic than the death of Phillip and I dont want to derail one topic with another

I don't think referring to Chinese as slitty eyed is "speaking forthrightly".
