Prince Philip has died

She isn't going to live much longer and even if she does, I don't see how it can be in a working capacity.

I do wonder if she might "retire" now, although she did state when she took the throne that she would never abdicate and would remain on the throne until she dies no matter how long or short that might be. Course that was a long time ago though and she may think differently on it now.

I believe the point is that if the person on the throne changed the people eligible to be called prince also change.

Can't recall how close you have to be to the monarch but being the grandson of the current monarch is closer than being the great grandson of the current monarch.

2 generations in general, 3 in the direct line of succession. So children and grandchildren of the current monarch plus some of their great-grandchildren, only the children of the eldest child of the eldest child of the current monarch.

I wonder if either Charles or William will institute reforms to make it so that female heirs have equal right to the throne?

Edit: Ah nevermind, did a google and found that it's already done.

To be an a-hole imo, would be to say something which isnt what you think but is instead something said just to be an a-hole. Speaking something that you think and someone not liking it though, thats not being an a-hole. Thats just being honest, a person might not like the honesty being said but thats a different thing altogether :)

However, thats probably a different topic than the death of Phillip and I dont want to derail one topic with another

It's all about the context I suppose. Philip was guilty of both being endearingly open and purposefully ignorant at times.

Charles is the next King, and he's the king from the moment Liz's heart stops beating. He's waited for too long, so he won't immediately abdicate to William.

Didn’t you get the memo? Times have changed. All prospective applicants to the throne will have to perform on ITV before being ritually humiliated by Simon Cowell and then the next monarch is selected via a complex three month long elimination process comprising of several phone votes.
