In what way does your kernel's design influence the day-to-day running of your computer or indeed your initial choice of operating system?
It seems like you've Googled/Wikipedia'd something that you think might be remotely relevant to something but don't quite understand, and then tried to shoehorn it into your project—despite its irrelevance—because you want to "teach the teacher something", and the net result is just that you're that guy.
The kernel effects the performance of the operating system. I did say that this was not the only reason I chose Windows over Linux. More prominently I spoke of my skills in Windows being greater than my skills in Linux, and other relevant information. The bit about the kernel was a relatively small bit (now I have finished the project) and it was stated that this was not the only, or the biggest reason for choosing an operating system.
I might not have the knowledge you obviously have regarding operating system and kernel architecture, but I did understand what I was putting into the piece of work, having had an interest in this low-level operating system work in the past.
I can do the average work of saying "I chose Windows because I am good with it", or I can go into further detail about Windows and the alternatives, and then make a more educated decision while showing that I have knowledge of subject matter beyond the scope of the syllabus. I admit that the kernel is not the
most relavent thing to put in, but it does have relavence. I took a rather basic view of matters, however one part of my work was to describe an operating system, so I decided to describe kernels and the two major architectures (i.e. monolithic kernel and microkernel; although I suppose hybrid kernel design is a different one that is based on both (the other kernel designs are usually just a slight change on either of the two major ones (or simply hybrid))).
I'm not trying to be rude, but you don't seem to have a huge insight into my project. (You might, but I don't think from your post that you do). So, why are you trying to degrade my work, and effort to simply "Googling" or going on Wikipedia for something that I don't quite understand. Do you
fully understand kernels? I don't like the way you have said that "it seems" something when I haven't even posted in much detail as to what my project entails.
I am sorry if this comes across as rude, but I really feel annoyed that you would say that all I am doing is "Googling" and I don't quite understand things. Of course I have used Google and Wikipedia although
everything is in my own words. Of course I don't fully understand kernels, but who does? (I am willing to guess even experienced operating systems architects do not
fully understand kernels).
