Privacy on windows - what are my options?

I use nets curtains for privacy as they let the light in but you can still see out albeit everything looks very white :p. Blinds seemed a bit dark and obstructive but the mirror film sounds like a good idea, we have proper curtains for at night anyway. Its a personal thing though, some of our neighbours have no curtains whatsoever and seem perfectly happily being on display at night.

Depends if your windows are uPVC or wood and how handy you are? I'd suggest considering whizzing the glass out and swapping it for laminated and toughened frosted. You can buy the frosted / patterned in 5 different strengths depending on how private you want to be.

Changing units in uPVC is incredibly simple and cost is not that high especially given the extra security.

I'm quite handy, and the windows are uPVC; do you have an example of the frosted glass? Just want to make sure I'm googling it right

I have a few windows like that. I used privacy film that goes half way up the window. Like this...

Dependent of course on your glass supplier stocking Pilkington! If you do order laminated which is not that much more expensive, you will need to reduce the spacer bar width to 18mm as laminated is 6mm thick not 4

If it's internally beaded it's really easily to remove, a blunt chisel into the gap and twist until it pops out. I'm told it is now part of building regulations that all new properties have to have laminated and toughened glass for security reasons.
