Pro Cycling Discussion 2017

Any insider info on route/maps?

I wanted to see that stage but ended up booking a chalet in Alpe d'Huez instead. We'll have a car so there's still a chance we might try and get to it.
Nah nothing yet, just looking at the stage profile most of those places are inside an hour from our house.

If the BBC article is to be believed this is an unfortunate mistake that will get punished rather than a performance enhancing plot uncovered. Tony Martin seems to be particularly unfair suggesting special rules for Froome as if the article is correct the drug used does not mean an automatic ban but rather an investigation.

Pro-cycling certainly doesn’t like Sky the 2018 TdF route seems deliberately aimed at stopping Froome. Further following the trend of the last few years.

Let’s hope the due process of the rules is allowed rather than trial by mob and public opinion that has become prevalent in all walks of life.

Sky's big problem is every team that has dominated cycling in recent times have cheated and now they have the stink of it the wiggins tue's were very convenient, then the dubious package and now this, they will do well to recover even a modicum of there former standing!

The tour has a history of tailoring routes for and against people the year wiggins won the route was perfect for him!

Just a mistake in the dosage calculation I believe with the higher power inhaler if that is correct.

But if Froome wasn’t right up to the maximum 1000mg to get those marginal gains the other days I’d be very surprised....

Right up to the limits normally as close as they can get.

Surely the most important point is that having too much isn't performance enhancing, and it can in fact lead to impaired performance. According to the academic Froome's got evidence from, anyway.
The important fact is the limit is the limit he will find it very difficult if not impossible to prove what was so different that day as opposed to every other that made his reading over double the allowed quantity. If it was any other cyclist at any other team I would say a ban was inevitable but banning Froome is very bad for the sports image do he might get away with it!

Taken in tablet form (higher dose) it can act similar to clenbuterol and similar.

Good podcast by CyclingTips on it.
