Pro Cycling Discussion 2022

Forgot how useless eurosport are at highlights. Watching yesterdays little hour got down to 7km to go, goes to a break, come back and it's back to 40km, thought it was a display mistake on the counter but oh no its just replaying previous section. Goes to next break and down to 7km. Hope the discovery investment allows them to buy some useful directors/editors so they do a highlights package like itv do for the big races! Rather than just show the last hour /45mins.

Hoping for a big day today with some proper gc action.

In theory it should be the same thing, but someone in eurosport messed something up. Big day today really narrowed down the leaders. Shame to see Yates drop out of contention after looking good so far. Landa vs carapaz for me, but hope bardet can keep it going.

Mvdp full on thrash just had nothing against girmays slow Cadence drag. That lad has some power. Good to see he did what I said and got his position right, he's been sprinting well the whole race and can see him picking up the ciclamino Jersey with the way he's consistent finishing. Hopefully gives him some more confidence going forward too.

The Cork pop was unfortunately hilarious though!

yeah bit stupid really, just briefing the riders beforehand is probably enough or dont make them do the whole unwrapping thing. Hopefully it will allow him rest for TdF

Really hope Geraint Thomas' form is a bit of a pre cursor to a good showing at the Tour! Certainly looked a lot more consistent this year and that TT behind Evenepoel shows he's back to a bit more of form than the last 18 months.

What a win from Cav yesterday and Towers on Saturday and then the news about QS team today. I know it's been Jakobsen as the primary for so long, but I can't see him getting more than 1 stage and he's too big to get over the mountains, he'll be lucky to get to paris let alone have a shot at green.

Lot going on at Bahrain, wonder what will come of it. Press highlighting the middle east involvement in their questions soon got shut down.

Most of the big riders off in the middle of the pack today, going to be a tight battle for that yellow Jersey Ganna obviously the favourite but I wonder if its not quite a long enough one for him to put out his massive power.

That finish was chaotic to say the least.amazing sprint from. Jakobsen to be honest. But how sagan stayed up in that finish I don't know. His bike handling is ridiculous.

Crazy strength, jumbo and ineos showing they've got the race tactics/team capability compared to the others, getting into that climb in the right place, but wonder how that'll play out over the next few days. Looking forward to tomorrow.

12s thank goodness. Otherwise as you say Pogacars seeming capability to just put power down at will against the biggest cobbles riders in the world would have won him the GC already, it's put him in a stronger position, but Roglic's inability to ride a bike has foiled him yet again. 4x Vuelta winner incoming. Vingegaard got very lucky.

He needs to be bullied by the other teams is how, the couple of occasions he has riders who have kept him penned in he suffers. Well suffer is not the right word but more un easy.
Yeah, everyone seems to keep playing into his hands. No idea what roglic sprint was about today and bettiol is being made to look even more stupid today with powless so close to yellow.

Ridiculous stage, still worry he'll miraculously come back tomorrow and win by 7 minutes or something stupid. Incredible rides all round. G only 4s off now! Bardet riding incredibly again! Hopefully he can make the podum again, but obviously not at the expense of Thomas. Tomorrow is going to either be amazing or a complete lull! Hopefully the former.

I thought Jumbo had messed up when WVA brought back Majka.

Pog died a death (relatively speaking) on the race across flanders earlier when he let a move go and then couldn't get back to it, but that's about the only time. Last year at TDF he got dropped a few times but by like 20s and never cracked, as I say I hope he doesn't miraculously take 7 minutes today or something, although it will cement in my mind my opinion on him. Hopefully this won't kill the tour either if Pog loses more time. Hopefully Thomas and Bardet can mount something. I would hope Bardet gives it a go as he is a true racer and a frenchman winning the tour has been unthinkable for so long! Get a bit of bad weather and it cold happen, he's a demon descender.

Just watch itv for 2 competent commentators. Great win for pidcock. Guy is some talent with that descent and climbing ability. Good to see him back in the top 10 hope he can keep it up for another week although it's clear this was his aim as a minimum. His interviews before sounded like he wanted that stage long before today. Great to see froome give it a go too.

GC bit quieter but still pogacar trying to make it happen and hopefully this'll be it day after day until the end. Thomas just plugging away being consistent, never been a guy with a huge kick but hes certainly able to stay up there day after day.

Is enric Mas the most dull rider in existence? I don't ever recall seeing him ever attack and he just follows wheels every single day. Consistently top 10 though. Good for movistar of late. That team needs a big overhaul considering how much money they have to spend.
