Pro Evolution 2011

i am not going to join the fanboi debate, but i think the menus in pes are the least user friendly interface i ever witnessed on any game and my goal summed up whats wrong with the gameplay of pes

Hows does thar goal possibly sum up what's wrong with the gameplay of PES?

I'm assuming of course that you're playing on the easiest level. If anything .... great goal :D

Indeed, a peach of a long range lob over the keeper right into the top corner. How exactly that is indicitave of something wrong with the game I am unsure.

actually really enjoyed the demo. bit of a newb question but (and bare in mind that i havent played PES in years) does it have all the correct player names, kits etc?. remember that was one of the things that had put me off in the past

There are still some unlicensed teams. You can download patches from t'interweb to correct them though.

I think Spurs are a new addition to a correctly licenced teams.

I usually just change the premier league team names to the correct one and that's good enough for me.

well that was on professional, since you cant change the difficulty on the demo.

not sure what wrong with this game? i shall answer that for you.

first the defender that was chasing me, should have been tracking the runner on the right side, if he didnt do it the left back should have done. but neither didnt anything in that video, i could have easily played him though. and my left winger should have been moving forward in support, but he just stood here, thats not good positioning if you ask me.

secondly, they should have been closing me down. and that shot meant to be a power shot, and there is no way he can kick a ball with that projectile, with that motion. very poorly animated (did i say i felt like i was running like a robot like i was playing on the first virtrua striker game on the sega saturn?) and unrealistic. i used to get these kind of goals all the time on the older versions regardless who i was playing and what difficulty, so nothing has changed i guess.

and finally this is the most obvious one...how can the keeper be so far off his line? and how can the defenders reacted to the shot faster than the keeper (they were chasing back after i shot, before the keeper even moved a muscle)? only a genius can answer this one!

Anyone else get stuttering on the demo? I like PES but it just is never enough, its always playing catch up but is always a few years behind.... The menus are still rubbish - STILL! I think an intern could make a better graphical interface.

I did for 10 brief minutes consider buying the game, the replays look good and the graphics are nice. The game play is ok but not as flowing as fifa was in 10 or 09. I had one dodgy moment where the ref stood in front on the opposition wall for a free kick on the edge of the area?!

I think I must be jaded by footy games because I wasnt overly impressed with Fifa 11 either but will probably buy it out of the two.

That goal was pretty good really - very Robben-esque in real life cutting in from the rightand hammering it home :)

I think Professional is level 3 out of 5 in Pro Evo. Not 100% sure on this.

First Point - You're right that the defender should be tracking the player but in the premiership and any football league you'll see plenty of instances when it doesn't. Especially on a medium level of difficulty i'd expect to see this happen.

Second Point - at 23 seconds on the video a centre back was coming to you but you had taken your shot already. The shot is a bit loopier then a power shot would be, but this happend on all versions of PES. When you go for a power shot the player decides he'd rather kick the ball with the outside of the boot or side foot for a more placed finish.

But you're right in that if you choose to do a power shot then it should do it. I think there should be the option like L1 or something that lets you choose outside of the boot shots but it seems to be the same on FIFA :/

Third Point - The keeper is off his line but again it's all part and part of football. The defenders look like they reacted quicker because they were already running back while the keeper moved from a standing position. The keeper does look to move when the shots taken, but some shots are so good like that one (post and in) that there's no point in the highlight dive

But this is all coming from my point of view, from a 30 second clip i'm seeing.

the keeper did look and try and make a save...but only after the ball has hit the post.

i always find the positioning of pes players questionable regardless of the difficulty. they dont position better as you increase the difficulty, they just close you down faster, hustle and dive more. remember this is a world class team in barca, surely tracking runners is as basic as it comes for them. and unlike on fifa there is no button to tell a player to make a run in support when you wanted it, thats quite annoying on the attack.

and another thing, the celebration of the players after the goal is a bit lame, i think it should like on fifa where you can run around and do whatever you want to taunt your opponent.

Really wanted to like this as I'm not the biggest fan of Fifa, but Pro Evo 2011 has completely lost its roots of fun. For me PES11 has no where near the enjoyment factor to PES2, PES3 or PES4.

Konami really need to sit down and take a long hard look in the mirror.

But unlike some people in this thread, I have no problem with people enjoying PES11 and finding the good factors of the game, but for me it's not a fun challenge, it's a painful one.

Tried it (Last pes i played was 6 which was good) Def an improvemeant but still too far behind FIFA for me to switch back to it, FIFA has owned it since 08 imo.

However i actually liked PES menu since FIFA`s has gotten stale, had in-depth customization which was sweet and wish FIFA went to that level.

So not as bad as i thought.

One thing i hate about fifa is that all the players feel the same. Pes each players stats gives them a different feel and that is something fifa need to get their arses into gear to sorting out.

I have too say i think i have been FIFAised. I just prefer FIFA to PES now and i really really have tried to change back. PES was all i used to play and i still treasure the times i put into PES 6 but for the life of me, and i appreciate these are not the finished articles, i dont think you can compare the 2. FIFA has gone on again and is the only buy for me.................................sadly!!

This edition of PES has finallay forced me to abandon the d-pad for movement due to the passing system needing it. This was one of the main reaosns why I didn't take to Fifa 10 last year, I really didn't like leaving d-pad, that and the absolutely and irredeemably god awful manager mode. Now since I've made myself use the stick on PES11 and have got used to it I thought I'd be fair and give the Fifa11 demo a good go as well. After several games the clear winner for me is still PES, the new passing system I think is excellant and is one of the main reasons I am enjoying it more than Fifa, and yes I've tried Fifa on all three pass assist modes. Its going to be PES for me again this year.

Haha was that Fabianski in goal? It looked as if he watched the free kick come in, made no attempt to save it, then ran after it as it slowly rolled into the net. Great AI there, exceptional intelligence.
