As the official release date for this is fast approaching, I thought I'd make a proper discussion thread for it. Very big game for me and many others, PES6 is feeling quite dated now and I'm itching to play the full version of 08.

Hopefully mine will be arriving on Thursday. I will also hopefully be attending the PES Industry Cup on Thursday in London which is for people in the gaming/media industry :)

Can't wait for this :)

re smoothly with far fewer drops in frame rate, but on the flip side there appears to be a weird distance filter which overlays the pitch, so the grass near the camera looks sharp, halfway up it’s a bit more blurred and in the distance it’s fuzzy. Normally that wouldn’t be a problem but the depth changes are fairly visible – two curved lines arc across the screen - especially on an HD TV, and while it won’t ruin your enjoyment of the game it does look a little odd.

Didn't know the 360 review as out. I believe that's the only part in the review that has changed.

PS3

+ easily update option files
+ better controller for PES

- slowdown

360

+ not as much slowdown
+ xbox live (although it does cost £30 and PSN is catching up)

- has some weird depth of field problem according to IGN

This is really disappointing, both versions have problems. Hopefully they sort out the slowdown later with patches like they did last year with PES6 for 360.

I have mine pre-ordered for £30 online for PS3 as it it's still the best football experience on next gen consoles even though it has its faults. Apparently installing the game to the hard drive on the PS3 does reduce the slowdown according to people who have got the game.

Need some screenies in here:

Player requests can be arranged if you want to see how accurate they got with them. For those that don't know the demo teams are: Argentina, Brazil, Portugal, France, Spain and Turkey so any players from there is fine atm.

Why is the PS3 controller supposed to be better for this game?
It's the classic Pro Evo controller (Possibly because most versions have been on a Playstation format).

It does undoubtedly have a better d-pad, which many still use for the fine control. The main developer has been quoted in the past stating that the Dual Shock is the ultimate Pro Evo controller.

I'm certainly more comfortable playing Pro Evo with the PS pad than any other.

Seabass has said both control pads this time round he does not like and is looking to change the gameplay due to the PS3 pad being rather rubbish. Never had any problem playing the game with a 360 pad as I don't use D-Pad. And since I read the PS3 pad is quite poor for deadzones then can't see it being much good.

I don't quite understand that.

The only practical difference as far as Pro Evo goes with the Sixaxis is the triggers, which are poor but shouldn't have much bearing on playing Pro Evo.

(This is obviously based on people who use the d-pad, which is the main advantage of using the Sixaxis.)

The reason it's better is because it doesn't feel awkard to rest your ring fingers on the triggers. Whereas on the 360 version if you put all of your fingers resting on both sets of shoulder buttons it feels weird.

That's why I switched the running to the trigger on the 360 bad because it doesn't feel confortable resting my fingers on the bumpers. I read that if you play on the Konami stadium there is no slowdown on the PS3 version so that's pretty good news :)

Hey man is that an order from a certain canadian website or a uk based one?

Also people going on about which controller, it's purely down to personal preference. I used to play the majority of my football games on a playstation pad which i used the d-pad. I then switched to xbox for pro evo 5 and used the sticks, then onto the 360. Just a matter of which controller your most used to.

The only issue I ever had with the 360 pad was being forced to use the analogue stick, although I did get used to it.

That said, if I was buying Pro Evo 2008 it would be the PS3 version, purely for the d-pad.

Well I've been using the PS pads and recently the 360 pad for the new version.

There isn't a great difference but I do prefer the PS3 pad for it. It's not purely down to prefence either, the dpad on the 360 is virtually unplayable for PES or other games.

I ordered it from a UK based one but they have stopped taking pre orders as the stock has filled.

I'm actually looking forward to it now that I know the slowdown can be fixed by setting the stadium to the Konami one and also the fact that if you install it to the hard drive it's not supposed to be that bad.
