EDIT: not sure what all those vertical lines come from because its certainly not their in the actual game played in motion.

Graphics are amazing
Player animations as good as fifa
Passing is miles better then fifa(no more ping pong!)
shooting is better than fifa i.e. less floaty long shots than fifa
player physics are spot on
Pace of the gameplay is spot and can be set
Tactics/formats are nearly as deep as football manager games and no contest between fifa
Passing is excellent. opps did i mention that already? its the best part of the game imho. takes time to master and like i said, no ping pong ********.
defensive AI is great! you need to really work the ball to even get an attempt on goal
minuses:
hate the penalty view. it sucks and hard to score penalties
sound effects could be better and more real in terms of the ball kitting the cross bar and whenever the player kicks the ball but the stadium chants and sound are great.
Replays for every freaking free kick!
Other then that. its a day 1 purchase for me on the pc due to huge mod community available for it. this is the return to form of PES. their is no ifs or buts.

I've had 1 game on the demo and was very underwhelmed tbh! :(

I know its only the demo and there are some elements missing (ie. commentary etc) but it still felt a bit lacking in certain areas! I cant quite put my finger on it but I had big hopes for this to get the series back on track and I cant help but think this isnt the one!

I'll play the demo but I've heard all the hype before.

FIFA 10 on consoles was very good but not excellent yet PES still came nowhere near it. I started playing PES 2010 on PC last week (after my initial attempts at release left me crying at how poor it was) and although I'm enjoying myself, I'm fully aware that:

-I can't play passes exactly where I want to unlike FIFA which allows me to
-Aerial through balls are overpowered 90% of the time

That plus the fact we were promised 360 degree dribbling only for Konami not to give it to us leave me lacking excitement. All the "the demo is only an x% build" talk has probably already started on the wider internet if people criticised it.

I played some games today and i am impressed so far. I do agree with you the passing system is awesome. I like how every pass isnt perfect and i like how u can aim normal passes into space. I like the way u can intercpet passes too if theres not enough power on it. When you do string good passing moves together it feels more rewarding then fifa.

I also like the way the players control the ball and how they cant always instantly control it. Bad passes or overhit passes seem harder for the players to instantly control which is cool

From what i can tell the goal keepers are better as well they dont parry every shot and when they do beat it away they tend to get it away from danger.

I just hope the online is as good as it sounds with the online master league stuff. The be a pro mode looks pretty good as well.

Looks like evo will be getting my money this year. unless fifa can fix the things that bugged me about fifa10. Dont get me wrong i love fifa theres just times where it makes me rage at certain things.

Thats until you try FIFA 11 and realise the gulf between them - PES is better than last year but so is FIFAs but even more so...

ps3ud0

Fifa 11 demo coming out on PC today too. Although it is basically a combo of Fifa 10 + WC on the consoles, rather than the same version they get.

Heard a lot of hype about how good Fifa 10 was so hope it lives up to it and gives PES a run for it's money. Will give both a good run out before deciding which to opt for this year.

I think it's rubbish to honest. The graphics are nice but I still don't like the stiff controls that still exist in the PES series. Do people actually like this? For example you receive a pass and you try to turn but it's dog slow. Also the touches (when you receive the ball) just doesn't feel right. If you play the old PS2 versions (the one with Henry on the cover) for example, the animations, movements etc jsut feels so much better and different to newer ones.

I use to be massive fan of PES but I've now lost faith in the PES series as nothing seems to change by much. I think I'll just to stick with Football Manager for the time being and wait and see what they come up with for PES 2020 :D

fifa 10 on consoles was rubbish. Unless u like playing ping pong arcade style football with very little player stats involved and ever little tactical involvment then fifa is for you :)

O and diddnt you lot know that konami did a master league online beta a few weeks ago was a huge success?

Problem we have here, you are coming across as a total fanboy with your statements. You might not have liked Fifa 10, but metacritically, its the best football game ever released and one that people still play a lot a year on.

I dont think you will find any football fan hoping that the new Pro Evo is rubbish, we want them both to be great games, but let other people make their own opinions rather than making sweeping statements.

ok fair enough mate i dont mean to come across like that but i have been so fustated with playing fifa 10 online that it has become a complete joke mate.

i also got fedup of PES for the past 3 years and always hoped that PES will one day make a great game again and today is the day they finaly have IMHO.

Ive just had a shot of the demo and its fair to say it will have a learning curve, on first impression it doesnt look like it plays that great, but then the preview at the end shows the 360 degree passing, the feint and tricks options. I really hope it does deliver, its only £17.95 at shopto anyway, so ive stuck a pre order in.

I'm quite surprised, but graphically Fifa 11 looks far superior on PC. I posted some screenies in the FIFA thread. Too early to tell on gameplay really. Seems like we'll be getting 2 good games though at long last
