The british adder normally only eats small rodents, look to see if the cat was bitten if not I would say it may not survive as the venom has been digested and the cats digestion system should maybe able to handle the venom but ingested venom is normally just as dangerous as being bitten, so I would definitly seek further help.

Check the cats to see if it has diarrhoea as this is a common symtom of venom in a body.

I know that no human has died from an adder bite since 1975, but a cat is a whole different game.

Even if you got hold of a vet I doubt he would have anti-venom at hand, but they maybe able to get hold of it for a price, most likely a very high one aswell.

Hands up all those who actually think that the cat caught a slow worm, it escaped by shedding its tail and the OP/owner merely witnessed the cat eating the shedded tail.
