Problem overclocking C2D Cpu

should be fine given that setup whether u go up by 5/6 doesnt really matter that much until you get towards the final clock speed when 1/2 can make a difference.

the guide u linked is a good starter but there are likley to be overclock guides for that mobo/processor so might be worth having a look, as bios settings might need changing to help overclock better.

Couldnt dig up anything on those threads. Anyone got any other ideas? Could my motherboard or something eles be faulty? :(

It doesnt beep or anything, just the graphics dont load on the monitor.

my e2160, was the easiest thing to overclock on the planet.. I went in straight up to 2.8 ghz after farting about with 5/6mhz increases and i t has taken it all in its stride. Im limited to just over 3ghz by my ram.

even with rubbish cheapo ram, its working nice at 311mhz @ 1:1 x 9 = 2799mhz

Im using an Abit Ab9 pro mobo.

Im sure with 800 speed ram it could see 3.3 ghz quite happily

what voltages do you have at the moment for cpu and memory.

try 1 stick of memory in different slots as u try the overclock.

looking at the processor thread i listed not many seem to start slow with these processors, may be worth setting it to 300 and see if it has a problem.

CPU 1.325
Ram 1.8

Will do this now

Went in at 300 and got horrible beeps and no boot.

One other thing ive noticed with this mobo is when i power up it powers up breifly for about 5-10 secounds then shuts down then powers up proply

is that at default as well, because thats what mine normally does if its been overclocked too far.

yeah, a lot of mobos do that when you have overclocked to far or if the board is just buggy like my p965 ds4, i get that and it recycles for ever until you pull the power cord out and reset cmos and re-enter your overclock again. wish i had a tasty p35, will prob get the dfi once its got a lot cheaper:)

Booted at 215 with just one stick of memory. Gunna try go higher now.

Nope just tried to boot at 270MHz and no boot.

Anyone got any other ideas? CPU temp is 23degrees idle so it cant be overheating.

have you tried different memory slots ?

other than that being iffy can only think it may be the mobo, unless you have a really bad clocking processor :(.
