Ill keep it brief

Had a MBP 13", I bought with Applecare.

Sold it a few months later with the Applecare as part of the sale.

New owner meets me (nice fella will get the use of it), and hands me the cash, I, tell him to mail me his new details and ill get on to Apple to sort the new registration for the Applecare.

Found the mail to sort this, sent a email with my purchase, and his new details.

Month later, no certificate oin the post, nothing on the website to tell him its now under his name.

Second email, told a certificate will be sent to him...about 3 weeks later, nothing.

Annoyed now as its making me look like a con artist and a liar.

Write slightly (not abusive) email about why this hasn't been sorted yet, same response, telling me the certificate is on the way.

Still nothing.

Very annoyed now, send more peed off (tho still not overly abusive just how annoyed I was that NOTHING had been done about this)....and.....not even a response from Apple about it now...that was about 2 weeks ago

So...any ideas as to what I should do now?

I'm am totally gob smacked as to how this can go on, I sold in good faith thinking Apple could sort this so easily.

I've never had a certificate, just an email confirmation.

AFAIK the Applecare is tied to the machine number, so all he would have to do is give that number and up it'll pop with his new details.

(Providing they've changed the owner's name on record).

I'll give them a ring, but I figured as they have a department specific to sort this out it was best to keep dealing with them.

I was told on each email that the new owner would get a printed certificate sent to him, and he has logged to the apple site and found nothing nor has he recieved any emails from them directly.

It's fine if I was owning it I could go online and see it lined up with my othe applcare products, but the fact is apple have not made any contact with the new owner to say that it has been transferred, just has my word on it, and if the role was revered I don't think that would be good enough to me, nevermind the fact I have been told by them on 3 emails that he would be getting a printed certificate.

Just so you know you can go online and print your own certificate.

Why not forward the bloke the emails from apple to show you're telling the truth?

It doesn't matter.

Seriously, if it breaks all they do is check the serial number to make sure it's in warranty, it doesn't matter a squit what name is on the paperwork.

I bought my Mac Pro second hand and had to take it in for repair, no problems at all and my Macbook Pro was bought through a friend at Uni and that's not listed in my name either. As long as the serial number shows it's covered that's all you need to worry about.
