Problem with bsods since fitting new MObo & CPU (more detailed)

Hello several weeks back I have purchased a MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Motherboard along with a Intel I7-4790 LGA 1150 Haswell from OCUK

ever since putting in these 2 parts into my pc I have been getting random BSODS & random times & my PC was fine before having these 2 new parts installed not a single problem

My current PC specs are

MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Motherboard
Intel I7-4790 LGA 1150 Haswell
4x 2 gig sticks of crucial ballistics sport ram DDR 3
XFX 7950
windows 8/8.1 64 bit pro
THX 850 wat PSU
Crucial SSD m500 240 gig ( i think)

I have done or had done the following things to try and fault find or solve the issue

Memtesting 2 passes each stick (no errors)
my friend memtesting all sticks 8 passes ( no errors)
there is NO bent pins in CPU socket on board
several formats & a upgrade to windows 8.1
all drivers are up to date
pc was pulled apart and rebuilt
fresh theraml paste applied to the heatsink/cpu
tried a different graphics card & tried the onboard
intel burn test 10 passes
disabled this service http://windowsvc.com/bbs/board.php?bo_table=windowsvc&wr_id=80498 as it features a lot in my reliability history
made sure BIOS & ME are flashed to latest version (not jsut bios) then reinstalled the ME software afterwards
installed the lan drivers with just the driver only (no software)
updated my SSd firmware to mu05
running/setting ram voltage to 1.500v

since my previous format i have written down and kept a record of my bsods (these are not the only ones I have had & I cant remember the previous ones)

Driver irql not less or equal
attempted execute of non execute memory
driver irql not less or equal ndis.sys (twice)
kmode exception not handled dxgmms1.sys
driver irql not less or equal ndu.sys
page fault in non paged area
kernel security check failure
kmode exception not handled tcpip.sys


so I need some dam fine support & advice to rememdy this problem if it is possible

I have tried googleing the errors & fixing drivers but it does not seem to help whatever I do & try trust me ive tried this has been going on for several weeks now

( I have RMA open with OCUK ) at the moment I would just like to find the miracle fix before stuff gets sent back I still unsure if to send the bits back as i dont know what is the problem or any closer to finding it out and slowly going insane in the meantime as PC will BSOD when i get comfortable & do stuff

Was this a clean install or swap from old hardware?

Intel USB 3.0 drivers for Win 8 were an issue for me back in Jan 2014, so the Asus/Intel advise was to not install them as they would not install most times anyhow and caused issues or crashes.

Not sure if fixed or if Z97 differs as I am on same drivers.
 
was clean install originally after it was first put in as pc was kicking up a stink when it tried to boot from old install & has been installed several times since from fresh
 
Did you flashed the bios to latest?

Have you set your SSD to ahci mode?

Have you went into bios and loaded optimised defaults?

Have you set ram either with xmp profile or manually?
 
all of those have been done i believe yes only one i am unsure of is

it probbaly has been done at some point as my friend has been helping me and I am confident he knows what he is doing and it probably was set

but obviously since reflashing to make sure bios and me was done to 1.3 it resets the bios settings i believe so i dont know if it currently is

niether do i know where the option is
 
No I didn't clear cmos afterwards I can do/try that when i am at home if you wish ?

I don't seem to have a jumper as such to reset the bios will losening the battery & putting it in again reset it as the battery is a pain to fully remove not managed to fully remove battery ?

how will resetting the cmos possibly help?
I assume it wont remove the 1.3 bios if i clear cmos ?
 
It often help get rid of some stubborn settings and such,
a quick look at your mobo manual shows me your cmos jumper is on the bottom right hand of your board, just above the F panel connector near sata port 1/3


clear cmos only ressets the current INSTALLED bios and board to factory defaults. once this is done boot to bios hit (I think its f7 for optimised defaults) it usually tells you in the bios.


Go into your ram and either set it by XMP or manually

Once that's done find your onboard/storage device tab and set your HDD to ahci

hit f10 to save settings and reboot


I notice your board has an onboard graphics output have you tried taking the card out and testing with only onboard GFX this would at the very least rule out your graphics card if you have one installed. (nvm I see you said you tried onboard in your OP).

Ok will do that when I get home (not holding my breath)

I believe where it is there isn't a tiny little switch or cover on it or anything you know the tiny little plastic plug you remove and put on
or where it says it is there is nothing there

I cant remember which it's one or the other


will the lossening the battery method work to reset cmos ?

I never have managed to fully remove it only losen it enough so i assume it is not in because when i push it back in it make a quite/soft click type noise
 
mine i left my pc at his house for a few days OCUK suggest to leave it running over night so thats what we did

I have tried with 1 sticks,2sticks,3sticks bet you cant guess the last one
 
could be poor bios support for the crucial memory with the newer cpu?

seen issues with crucial memory in the past,only way to know is to test with another make/model and see if lockups still happen

your enabling xmp profile in bios? might help as would touch more memory controller

where did the ram come from as its in 2gb sticks? usually they are from older x58 or p55 boards?
 
I think it came from Amazon or http://www.******.com/ not sure which one or the other had this ram for a while now seems OCUk doesn't like me mentioning the other place it filters it out :P

can you suggest some other cheap ram as I dont have much money that is pc1600 ddr3 that is not crucial and is confirmed to work with my board & tested cant be anything with big heatsinks on as it wont fit my system because of the big heatsink & fan I have

ignoring the fact if the mobo say it should be compatable or not

id try with some proper 2x 4gb sticks,something like the teamgroup memory

2gb sticks might be older and poorly supported by modern boards

its all I can think of tbh as the cause,or atleast try and borrow a set off someone for testing
