Problem with build new pc

Have you plugged in both CPU and ATX power connectors? And you've plugged in the power connector for the graphics card?

Yeah I did all atx and PCI express cables. Fans were spinning.

I've got it thanks guys I reseated everything, inc processor. And reset BIOS although that shouldn't matter

It worked.

Thanks

I got a cheap replacement PSU for testing and this has seemed to boot the PC again fine.

Which would show that the problem is down to a faulty PSU!

Though is it?
I can not get any USB devices connected properly.
We have an iPhone 5 here, nexus 4, USB hub, USB keyboard, usb pen drive.

The Keyboard, usb pen drive, the hub works any sockets (usb 2 and 3), but if we plug in any of the phones they display a charging icon but the computer doesn't detect them.
Problem with USB power?

When plugged in the nexus 4 doesn't come up with its usual screen, windows displays the last USB device you plugged in has malfunctioned.

I wondered if it was a windows problem, then i tried the live knoppix CD and when plugging in the devices nothing happens.

I also noticed once plugging the iphone 5 into the front usb 3 and removing it, immediately made the computer go off, well the screen went blank and the PC needed to be rebooted.

The guy I built this for said the USB ports weren't detecting his phone before, when the original PSU was in it.

Could the MoBo be faulty? I've updated it's bios and drivers in windows.

Never had this much trouble with a new build before :(!

It's horrid when something doesn't work on a new build, it's so hard to work out what part's wrong.

The board does sound like it may have a problem, especially if plugging in something has caused the PC to crash.
