I recently just put together my pc and I have installed everything but there is a problem with the cooler (kraken x72) because on my motherboard (maximus hero xi) there is not enough 9 pin usb plugs and I’ve tried to use a splitter but now the cooler just isn’t working. If anyone could help that would be awesome

Does the cooler require USB or can it be left unconnected and run at full speed? I assume it connects directly to the PSU as well?

You can get cables that only use one row of the USB header, allowing 2 devices per header. If you have two devices using internal headers this may be a good solution.

The cooler has to be plugged in and there are only wires on one side of the plug but I’ve tried to plug it into other things and the first time I booted up my pc it worked but when I tried after that it just stopped working

What splitter are you using. Phanteks make a to notch hub that may help. The Corsair Commander Pro has a USB PORT TOO.

That board has 2 x 9 pin usb connectors, so I guess you are using both for the front panel connectors on your case ? If so then maybe unplug one and use it for the cooler, and then use the splitter for the case usb.

If you don’t mind telling me how this would work and where you would plug it in

It just connects to the internal USB header via cable, and provides additional USB headers, so you can connect your cooler to it. It’s no different to an external USB hub, just different connectors. It’s powered by a molex and comes with an adapter I believe.
