Right now made 3 coasters as i was backing up my hard drive on to some dual layer dvd's and just now tried to rip a dvd and all the errors are the same, I/O device error, now there isn't any firmware update for my drive and already on latest, apart from burning and ripping, drive works fine, so any guesses anyone?

EDIT: drives a Pioneer DVR 110D

what speed are you burning at?
As the max for that writer should be 2.4x but maybe the software is trying to go faster than that depending on the disk you are using, on that note what software and disks?

Edit: Just checked and it actually does say it will go up to 8x on DL but I have never burnt more than 2.4x on any of my pioneers.

I use Ashampoo burning software with verbatim DL Discs and ye I did set Ashampoo to burn at 2.4, still failed,

EDIT: Dvd Shrink to rip

If your using dvdshrink to rip, then you can use almost anything to burn I would recommend trying imgburn love that piece of software. The verbatims should be perfect very good disk.

Failing that the lens on your drive could be dirty or the drive itself is on its way out.
