Problem with GTX 570 in new build

I've spent the last 3 nights trying to build my first PC.

I had a problem last night when I tried to power on for first time - I got the message "no video input".

Finally got round it by removing the graphics card (gtx570). Now when I a lot it back it I get the same message. Is the graphics card faulty, or is it likely I've not seated it right?

It's in the top slot, but there seems to be clip (similar to memory slot) that I'm not convinced it clicking fully into place but at the same time won't budge.

Any advice please ?

have you put two power 6pins in it.

Yes, the red PCI cables are in the card and also in the red PSU sockets

Have you got the cable from the monitor plugged into the graphics card (as opposed to the motherboard)?

If you could list your full spec it would be really helpful.

Yes there is, but this is now specific to the GFX card as I done as you suggested and removed the card for the inboard graphics.

I'm able to take my pc in on Monday to work but would rather try and get sorted myself.

Ok, so the system works OK with the onboard graphics?

Could you tell us the make and model of the PSU so we can ensure you are using the correct cables to connect to the graphics card. Does the GPU fan spin up when you turn on the system?

Obviously, if you have the graphics card installed you need to swap the VGA connection over from the motherboard to the graphics card. As there is no native VGA port on the graphics card then you will need to use a DVI to VGA adapter (that should have come with the graphics card).

You say it doesn't feel like its clicking in right so maybe it isn't.
You could try pushing harder, I know when I put my 480 in because it was a big card it took a bit of force to lock it into place.
You should feel it click if you have done it right and the card should be nice and level.

If the graphics card is fitted correctly then the clip at the rear of the PCI-E slot should fit over the rear part of the graphics card connector to hold it in place.

Sorry to hear you haven't sorted it yet mate.
It sounds like the card isn't getting enough power, whether it be the card or the PSUs fault.
With your PSU did you get 2x 6pin PCI-E cables and 2x 6+2pin cables? (all red)
try using the 6+2pin cables just to make sure the other ones aren't faulty.

It defo didnt feel like the memory sticks clicking into place.

Thanks for the photo. With the card out I can see that but dont believe I felt the click as described above.

Thanks mate, im further forward as with the onboard graphics i've now been able to install windows etc and at least get the pc working.

Three days ago I never knew what SATA was, PCI etc so its all new to me. Thats why when I'm asked questions I dont really understand them.

But im learning :-)

I have two 6pin PCI cables (well one cable two adapters) going into the graphics card. Does the 6+2 go into the PSU?

Make sure that the image you are trying to upload is the high res one and then ensure that the "image resize" option on the imageshack upload page is set to "do not resize".

Failing that, try photobucket.

Select do not resize or select a reasonable size like 1280x1024 or 1024x768.

Those are connected correctly but you should use 2 seperate power cables if you have them rather than 1 cable split into 2.
