Problem with GTX 570 in new build

Yes, that looks fine (so long as the connectors are fully inserted and secure). The 2 pin cable is just there so you can provide extra power to even more power hungry cards like the GTX 580 (where one of the PCIE power ports is an 8pin). On cards like the GTX 570 with two 6 pin power connection then leaving this 2pin connector loose is exactly what you should do.

Trying as surveyor suggests with the two separate cables is a good idea - as there is fair bit of current running through that cable and drawn off the connected rail.

I'm not familiar with your PSU, is the PSU-end of those PCIE power cables hard-wired into the unit or are they modular cables? If they are modular, are you certain they are inserted into to the correct ports. Telling us the make and model number of the PSU would be great as well, I couldn't see it mentioned in the previous thread.

I believe he ended up with the Lepa B-Series 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply.

The 8 pins into the PSU he's on about are where the modular PCI-E cables fit.

I assume it's still not working?

It's really very difficult to see much in that picture but I'll take you word for it that it isn't seating correctly.

I assume you used the motherboard standoffs when you assembled everything? These are the little (usually brass) spacers which lift the motherboard off the metal case.

Assuming you used those then for some reason the case and the motherboard aren't lining up properly.

I'll take another look later. I think the standoffs are ok, Everything else sits fine.
I think if I remove my Gelid cooler it will give me more space as I'm a little hampered due to it's size.

I'll post later. But again, thanks for your help last night or early this morning.

Ok think I'm losing it.

I got the 570 installed, but only through plugging the monitor into a dvi adapter and straight into the card, instead if into the motherboard I/O.

I tried to install Nvidia drivers but I keep losing video input signal and computer constantly restarts as it's losing signal.

When I remove the dvi adapter and plug monitor into motherboard, I'm back to square one

My device manager shows the 570. I've started up in safe mode with networking to try and update the drivers, hoping this might fix it

The way I read this it sounds like you are surprised that you need to plug the DVI cable into the graphics card.

This is the way it should be - if you plug the DVI cable into the motherboard with a discrete graphics card installed you shouldn't get any signal (though i'm not sure how the Z68's virtu handles this). Instead you are supposed to plug the video connection directly into the graphics card.

Would it be possible to take a few high-res photos showing of all your motherboard connections? You would be surprised how many times we can sort an issue out from there.

Are all the RAM modules fully inserted and secure?

Also, which RAM slots did you use?

Are both the motherboard power connections (the 8pin at the top left and the 24pin at the middle right) fully inserted and secure - with the locking latches interfaced?

Yes, used the first available two on the left (one black one blue. I thought I had to use same coloured slots for two sticks, but the DRAM light stayed on until I moved it.

PC recognises 8gb

The motherboard manual says you should install the memory modules in the slots of the same colour first (to maintain dual channel mode) and use the Blue slots first.

Ram moved to the blue slots.

When I start my pc now it restarts just as the windows logo comes, then power from keyboard goes and system reboots.

I then get the "no video input message" again
