Problem with mold

Problem with living in the basement of a 160yr old building I guess.

The outside walls have had damp proofing.

"Damp proofing" most commonly refers to creating an impermeable layer in the wall above ground to stop damp rising up the wall.

If your walls are below ground level it will make no difference.

Dehumidifyer and more ventilation would probably be the first step to try as tanking can work out very expensive :(

If you go for a dehumidifier i would get a decent one that could do 18 litres a day. Sorted out the mould patches we had in our kitchen at house.

Another vote for a de-humidifier. Just make sure you don't leave the door open when it's on, and leave all windows closed.. and don't sleep in there when it's on. You will end up like a prune :D

I going to check out prices of these de-humidy thingies aswell because we seem to get a problem with our living room and bedroom window. Mould starts on the sills and then heads upwards, I clean it off and it comes back again and again. Its due to kick in during the winter months and im getting sick of it :(
